We stayed at apartment no 1 from September 3rd to 11th 2008. Really glad that we booked before reading the only previous review.
The apartment was clean, welcoming and although not luxurious it was comfortable and does what it says on the tin.
Two major advantages to its position: obviously the spectacular view that each apartment has; ( great to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine watching the sun go down over the port) and also curiously for us in 35 degrees heat, not one single mosquito, wasp or fly in 8 days at the apartment. We were able to sleep with windows wide open each night.
There is a climb up out of the port to get to the apartments. No problem if you have a car, but 7 to 10 minutes on foot and it is steep in bits. However, we walked down to the many good quality bars and restaurants along the seafront each night and it seemed to get easier each day!
The surrounding olive and lemon groves and the countryside in general is beautiful, and off the main tourist trails. Soller itself is worth the wooden tram ride to sit in the square but the port has the bigger choice of things to do and places to eat. The beach on the far side of the bay seems to be the most popular and is pristine, with the usual clear blue waters. If you want a more picturesque setting, Cala de Deia around the coast (and hairpin bends) is beautiful, if small.
One thing that we found was that there if you intend to shopping (food or othewise), although there are a number of mini supermarkets in the town, if you want good value it is better to buy larger amounts of shopping in Palma which is just over 20 minutes away by car: the prices are much cheaper.
Would we go there again? Yes we would. tomorrow ideally...
