We spent 2 nights here at the beginning of November. Rafael and Alfredo were our hosts and couldn't be more helpful. When you walk in through the beautiful front door the sensation is one of warmth and friendliness. The house has been beautifully restored, is warm and cosy.
Our room which was a triple and overlooked a pastoral scene and the monastery was perfect and spotlessly clean.
Our hosts gave us great advice both on places to visit and eat.
Breakfast was gorgeous with freshly squeezed orange juice, great coffee and a selection of cold meats and cheeses.
We can't wait to return and bring our whole family..

This old inn is a must-stay! We happened upon it out of luck, as a convenient location before visiting the Altamira caves. We arrived and the owner greeted us with warmth and generosity-showing us our room choices and telling us the history of the house. The old stone "organist's house" is gorgeously restored, beautifully tended, and with lovely views out the back rooms over the old walled town and pastures, as well as gorgeous front entrance. The room are lovely-we saw four! The bed linens were excellent, the bathroom was nicely appointed and immaculate, with great hot water. Breakfast was generous and delicious, and was even served earlier than is scheduled so that we could take best advantage of our cave tour time-at the owner's suggestion! We found this stay to become a fond highlight of our two weeks touring Spain.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the back overlook a very lovely pastoral scene, and the old wall of the town.

I stayed here in early September. The hotel is in a beautifully restored old building. It had great public spaces furnished comfortably with lots of attention to details. Room was very comfortable and clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Rafael always had a smile and helpful advice. Breakfast with fresh juice and cafe con leche was delicious. The hotel is located just off the main square. I wouold definitely stay here again if I return to Santillana.

This charming small hotel was immaculately clean and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We booked the day before and found the bill a very pleasant surprise. Good value and good breakfast too, especially the orange juice!

Room Tip: Corner room with adjoining covered balcomy.

We stayed here in June and unfortunately we had a week of rain. However, this accommodation was lovely. There is a small bar on the ground floor but a good seating area on the first floor which we used on a number of occasions to relax while the rain tipped down. The whole building has been restored with great attention to detail. It is run very effectively and our room had a balcony overlooking the side of the property. Yes, there is a very noisy peacock and hens but they do sleep as well so we didn't have too much of a problem. Also as mentioned the bells chime twice at each hour but we managed to get used to that fairly quickly. All the reviews we read before choosing this accommodation say it all. Very comfortable rooms, lovely breakfast with fresh juice and a very warm welcome from Rafael and his family.

Such a friendly and beautiful hotel. I loved the private balcony to our room under the eaves, the old wooden staircase and the terrace where we had breakfast with views of the church and fields. In the midst of this historic village with parking nearby - at the bottom of a flight of steps leading down from the hotel.

We have been to Spain often over the years. We have found older and statelier hotels, more historic and luxurious hotels, more richly finished hotels. We have not found one we enjoyed more. The house, the furnishings and the décor are wonderful, but the people make the place. Rafael greeted us and bid us farewell. In between that, he and his family make us feel at home. The rooster and his barnyard companions helped. Like a good friend, Rafael quickly assessed our interests, made appropriate suggestions to optimize our time and focus our attention on what we most appreciated. The town is a tourist magnet, but that is because it so picturesque. I concur with the reviewer who recommended it be seen in the evening, when the day-trippers are gone. We found the cloister (which we visited in the evening light) to be one of the most beautiful anywhere.

Room Tip: We were satisfied with Room 7 and its side view. Based on other reviews it sounds like there are be...
