“El Petit Perico”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2012

We have recently returned from a trip to Spain during which we stayed two nights in the Parador de Cardona. Prior to visiting I had checked out eating places in the town and made a note of the Restaurant Perico.
Having arrived late at the Parador we decided to eat on the first night at the Parador. This turned out not to be a great experience which I will cover in my review of the Parador. The next day we went down to Cardona town to look around and find somewhere to eat. I found Perico at the address given but it was closed and was directed to El Petit Perico in a nearby street-Calle Cambres 30.
It was coffee time and we had a coffee and a chat to the staff. It turned out that Perico had closed about 7 years ago and the owner had decided to downsize. They served lunch at 13:00-15:30 and dinner from 20:00 until "the last customer leaves". We returned for lunch and were not disappointed. We had their three course menu del dia for 11 euros including a drink. The choice was good and the food was excellent. The staff could not have been more helpful with the menu. The place is relatively new and spotless.
If the food at dinner is as good I would have no hesitation in recommending El Petit Perico. The food and service was dramatically better than we experienced at the Parador.

“Superb Spanish food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2012

Simple restaurant (can look like a cafe) but very much aimed at the local Spanish. Service very friendly, helpful and efficient.
This is why Spain is now becoming a food capital.Unpretentious excellent cooking with local ingredients.

“Small, charming, upscale casual alternative to the castle for dinner in Cardona”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2009

We had a nice meal at this small restaurant in town. The food was delicious - we had a pasta with tomato jam and a beef carpaccio which were really superb. Our kids loved the pizzas and melted sandwiches on local flat breads. Great value for Spain, Great service since it was so small - 1 waitress, 1 barman, and 1 cook for about 8 tables and 2 small bar counters ( I think the first two are likely the owners.) We wished we could have eaten then again, but they were going on vacation!
