“Most Beautiful Parador”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2014

Have stayed at quite a few Paradors over the years but this one is by far the best due to its setting. It is surrounded by the sea on three sides but each view is different: tranquil bay or Cies Islands in distance and/or crashing waves against beaches and rocks. It is especially nice as you can walk the fortelezza walls up high or the sea wall at sea level. The parador itself is beautiful with simple rooms which are all unique and have great views. Great for a few days away from fast paced cities and ideal for relaxing and reflection. For Camino Pilgrims, well worth the higher price than an albergue or hotel. Will return for sure!

This was our last Parador before heading home. The situation is wonderful and the walk round the battlements is a must. We found the usual helpful and well trained staff on hand and despite our poor spanish we were well understood.

Our evening meal was good although being a Monday night not all the fish dishes were still available. The Breakfast was as good as ever!

Room Tip: A sea view is a must at this Parador

We spent 3nights at this Parador and everything was just amazing!
Front desk clerks and waiters very kind, the breakfast excellent with a delicious ham, dinner was great, and the caffeteria's tapas yummy!
The room was super clean, full of fantastic amenities, the bed was comfortable, the ocean view was just perfect!
The location is great! Full of parking lots.
The slight con than I would say is that the cafeteria closes at 23:00 on week days and at 24:00 on weekends. I would rather spending more time there playing cards with my friends.
On my birthday I found a cava's bottle in the room!
I will come back there very soon!

The setting of this Parador is lovely in a fortress overlooking the sea. There are lovely walks to be had around the site with great view of the sea. The building itself is ideal for a hotel and the rooms are generous in size and fitted out to the usual Parador standard. The lack of charm comes from the staff especially those on the front desk. Conversations continue between staff even when they are serving you - very bad manners. The exception to this is the restaurant manager who served us excellently and appeared to take pride in his work. Food in the restaurant was very mixed especially the meat main courses which consisted of very dry and over cooked pieces of lamb and pork. Breakfast was much the same the quality was not up to the usual Parador standard. On the whole we were disappointed with our stay!

We stayed 12/31-1/2/14 in a beautiful suite with amazing views. Right up from the grand entrance, our suite had marquetry floors throughout. Apparently this is part of the property that at one point was part of the palace. Beautiful. Service provided by everyone from housekeeping to wait staff was warm, friendly, efficient and spot on. Our son had a blast exploring the hotel, not to mention touring the forte. Beautiful.

Room Tip: sofa beds are terrible but roll-away brought in was excellent.

Stayed here once before quite a few years ago and again marveled at the location on a peninsula, surrounded by walls of the former fortress. Within20 km quite a few moderate walks/hikes to indulge our avocation, and the town itself is full of restaurants serving marvelous seafood. Typical Parador restaurant, rather overpriced and only fair quality. Seem to have missed the tapas restaurant on the grounds referred to by another. Unlike others we had wired internet in the room so connection was excellent( bring your laptop). Got a pretty fair deal via Amigos 2 for 1 offer, so if you are a Parador regular be sure to join.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2013

We arrived here on day 5 of our walking the Camino de Santiago. The views are beyond spectacular. The grounds are lovely to walk. The rooms? Average or below. The beds were terrible, and the pillows should be tossed out and the should purchase new ones. The Decor on the rooms was tired and could be refreshed. It was clean, but I felt a bit like I was staying in a low budget hotel room. There is no Wifi in the rooms, only in the common area, but at least it's free.
