Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 13 January 2014

This was our 6 th time that we have stayed at this wonderful, relaxing, peaceful, haven.

The food is excellence itself, and so well presented on the plate its almost a shame to eat it.
but when you do without exception soooo delicious, and beautifully cooked, you want to relax enjoy and savour every mouthful...

The staff also without exception are a joy,and so attentive to your every need, they go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

On this visit we decided to go a run to Pooley Bridge with our Sports Car, on the way we encountered flood water on the road coming off the hillside, and a lorry coming the other way drenched us just at that moment , which killed the engine.

My Husband as well as calling our breakdown cover service, also called the hotel and told them what had happened, and they immediately said they would send someone out to get us...

While we were waiting one of the young waiters from Inn On The Lake, who was out for a run with his girlfriend was travelling in the opposite direction and spotted our car, stopped and invited us to sit in the warmth of their car while we waited.in fact they stayed there with my husband for 3hours until our breakdown service arrived,
meanwhile the hotel sent transport from I.O.T.L. came and took me back to the Hotel....
When the breakdown service came they could not take the car immediately as they were so busy that day,and arranged to pick the keys up at the hotel and which turned out to be 8 hours from the time we had broken down

Had it not been for the wonderful, caring, and thoughtful staff at Inn On the Lake, It would have been dreadful for us, as my husband in waiting for heart surgery......

And as if that was not enough !!! Reception went out of their way to get us booked on a train back home so we could pick up our other car.and the hotel manager ran us to Penrith station for the train.
He told us If he had known before we booked the train, he would have offered to have run us to our home 90 miles away to collect our car.....

This Standard of Service is only matched by the Standard of Excellence of this Hotel, and it is hard to imagine where else we would have had the same caring and consideration.

Room Tip: we have not found a bad one.....

We stayed at the Inn on the Lake for the third time in December, on the Christmas party package. Again we had a fantastic stay. The staff are extremely helpful on all fronts and the food was to an exceptional standard.
The orangery is a welcome addition and adds to the hotel, it's a lovely place to sit and have a drink in the afternoon. We was lucky enough to get married here in August 2012, and it is somewhere we will always return too, due to the seamless staff and amazing location. Gary and Johnathon are excellent wedding organisers and our wedding went without a hitch! I couldn't reccomend the hotel highly enough and we will be returning again soon.

We have stayed here again and again Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and we returned again for another New Year Break and once again we were not disappointed.

Everything about this hotel is amazing... Manager, Staff, Food, Service, Rooms, Furnishings and an amazing location, we just could not fault anything.

Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff who are friendly and courteous, they make you feel so welcome and at home. The staff are a credit to Gary Wilson who is a fantastic manager

The hotel has recently been refurbished and looks truly stunning .The food is gorgeous.

Thank you for being so welcoming and always exceeding our expectations every time we visit.

I'm writing this within our first hour of coming here; we took advantage of a 2 night offer in a standard room but when we arrived, we'd been upgraded to a Lake View room. I'm speechless; the view is to die for, the room is enormous with a 4 poster bed and the bathroom has a separate shower cubicle plus the bath. The decor is brilliant; it's January but we are lovely and warm throughout the hotel. We had Winter Pimms and crumpets on arrival, which was just superb. This hotel is in the same group as the Lodore Falls but in our view, it's even better! If you want an amazing view, fabulous attention and ( I'm sure ) great food, this is it! Look no further!

We stayed here again for the New Year break and found the hotel to be even better than before. A lot of money has been spent on it recently and it showed. Originally the lounges were just about adequate but with the addition of the Orangery there is now plenty of room even when the hotel is full. Most of the rooms have been refurbished and the remaining ones are due to be finished in the next few months and the whole hotel has been recarpeted and redecorated. The staff were friendly and courteous and a credit to Gary Wilson the excellent manager. Food was very good with a wide variety of dishes and acceptably priced wines. Despite the lousy weather - it poured with rain and blew a gale - we all had a great time.
Would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Book a room with a view of the lake - the feature rooms are beautiful if your budget will stretch to...

Having recently enjoyed a short first stay at the inn on the lake, my husband and i a already planning a return visit due to the warm welcome we received both by the manager GARY who immediately made him self known to us, and various members of staff who were professional and courteous at all times and very approachable. the location of the hotel gives way to stunning breathtaking views and sumptious interior is pure indulgence. and the food...well ! excellent service beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. WHAT are we waiting for ?.

Very surprised by the glowing reviews below. Although the hotel stay was enjoyable there were certain bits that spoilt the stay. Firstly the temperature of the hotel was excessively high - so much so we had to wedge our window open all night and keep ordering extra water with dinner. Secondly the breakfast selection was poor - it was approaching the 10am finish time but nothing was replenished and we had to ask for juice glasses numerous times.

This all being said, the hotel is in a stunning location which cannot be beaten. It's probably the best place to stay in Glenridding.

Dear Amybullock

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. I do apologise if you felt it was too warm, all the radiators in the rooms are fitted with thermostatic control on the side so guests can adjust the temperature to there own liking.I do hope it didn't spoil your enjoyment too much and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Wishing you well
