We had a really first class lunch at this lovely hotel over looking beautiful Ullswater. I bought a travel zoo voucher £39 pounds for two people two courses a glass of bubbly and coffee, what a treat we had, my husband had the venison which was cooked to perfection i had the belly pork lovely and crisp. the service was excellent all in all a very nice afternoon, and we shall most certainly we go again, so once again well done chef and anyone who helped prepare the meal.

Great location. Hotel decor very dated. No mini bar and no wifi in room, wifi in hotel slow.
Tried to book a table in the adjoining restaurant (the rambler) and was told 'first come first served', and when we arrived, the majority of tables had reserved signs on them. Lack of communication.
Staff we're very professional and happy to help. Especially Grant.

danigraves, Manager at Inn on the Lake, responded to this reviewResponded 19 March 2014

Dear Rob,

Many thanks for giving us 4 out of 5 following your recent stay at the Inn on the Lake.

I'm very sorry to hear you think the hotel is dated and feel a little insulted having spent thousands of pounds investing in a complete refurbishment of the ground floor just 18 months ago. We have redecorated 80% of our bedrooms within the last 3 years too.

No doubt others will read your review and disagree with your opinion as they will see for themselves how this hotel could not be more up-to-date and in keeping with the Lake District location it resides in.

Just to clarify to other potential guests; mini-bars are not something we provide in any of our hotels, we don't advertise such a facility. We prefer to offer our guests a friendly and hospitable bar and room service instead. WiFi is definitely available in all bedrooms across all our hotels.

I'm sorry you were unable to get a table in Ramblers and hope you were able to enjoy a meal in the Orangery instead.

With kind regards,

Dani

We visited for a two night break in March after reading reviews. From the first greeting at Reception to service at breakfast and dinner we were not disappointed.
The scones on arrival (gluten free for me ) was a lovely touch .
Our room no 47 had a great view of the lake.
A few hiccups at dinner on first night as I am Gluten and dairy free but this was soon sorted with a dessert cooked just for me.
To us the sign of a quality hotel is how they deal with problems and they did so in a first class manner.
The staff in the dining room were excellent.
We feel we have found a place we will be returning to in the not to distant future.
Yes the setting is beautiful but the hotel has got to equal this and in our opinion it certainly does!

Having returned to this gorgeous hotel after a significant refurbishment and added Orangery we were not disappointed. The views from the hotel are spectacular and unrivalled. Staff are helpful and the rooms airy, spacious, well equipped with great attention to detail to ensure guests are well catered for.
We did request a window seat in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner which was duly accommodated ... Do ask otherwise seating is given as available. The window views are totally fabulous over Ullswater lake and surrounding Fells, they will restore any life displeasure ..... Go visit for sure.
Non residents can call in for a drink and relax in the splendid orangery, beautifully decorated with views abundant.

Room Tip: Request a window seat in the restaurant to ensure the maximum lakeside indulgent views.
