“Simply stunning!”

Stephen and Lynne have spent many years making this lovely building into one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in - the fixtures and fittings are absolutely top quality, and when you add to that the location - just WOW.

Nestled at the foot of Ullswater you are quite literally a stones throw from the edge of the lake, and within easy walking distance from the steamer ferries and boatyard where you can hire a variety of craft to take out onto the water. There are a selection of hotels and pubs to take an evening meal (although in some circumstances Lynne is happy to cook a meal from locally sourced produce at a very reasonable price). Having tasted the cooked breakfast I have to say you cannot possibly be disappointed. And talking of breakfast my girlfriend and I were extremely happy with the selection of fruits, pastries, cereals and cooked fare available - and all top quality ingredients (no shortcuts taken here). And what a view from the dining room! The lake is over seven miles top to toe and I would think even on a dull day the view from here will always delight.

Our room was facing the hills at the back, and what a room. Sumptuously appointed, the bed, bedding, bathroom and furniture have been selected with obvious care and taste and we had a wonderful couple of nights sleeping there. Solid wooden furniture, a four poster bed and a spacious bathroom finished to an amazing standard - with a roll-top bath and tiled all over.

We felt like we were pampered every minute of our stay, nothing was the slightest trouble and our every need was catered for. This kind of attention to customer well-being is sadly becoming a rare thing these days - not here! A family run establishment where you almost feel like you are a part of the family!

There are a large range of walks available around this lake, but Glenridding is quite nicely located for driving to almost all of the lakes. What a find this hotel was, and you can bet your mortgage on the fact that we will return again in the future. If you want a top quality place to rest your head in this area you need look no further.

Room Tip: The lake side rooms have the best view for a slight premium, but since all the rooms are so nice it...

I took my fiancee on a surprise weekend away to the Lake District, Ullswater to be precise. Carrie was very nervous before we got there as she didn't know where we were staying, as we turned into the drive her concerned look turned into total delight, there standing right next to the water is Glenridding House, the view is outstanding and the welcome was very friendly from the owners. The house has just been totally renovated to a very high standard and an extension has been put on the back but still keeping the character of the grade 1 listed building and should be open within 8 months. Our room had a four poster king size bed and roll top bath with shower attachment, if you want the top room, this over looks Ullswater with two big windows, french doors leading on to the balcony, sofa and LCD TV. Breakfast is second to none, great quality produce and cooked well. There is great places to eat and drink in Glenridding and plenty of walks. We will be back to Glenridding House to enjoy its 5* accommodation, many thanks for such a great stay.

Room Tip: Rooms looking over the water are great but more money, but you will not be disappointed

Booked for my Dad to go for afternoon tea for his birthday, have to say the owners pulled out all the stops to ensure he had a great afternoon, even to the point of decorating a table, making all his favorite sandwiches and even getting his favourite cake!

The scenery is beautiful overlooking the lake, Lynne is the most helpful person I ave ever had the pleasure of dealing with, nothing was too much trouble, she even took photos of the afternoon and emailed them to me, never before have I experienced such excellent customer service.

This place is a MUST when having a day out at the Lakes, highly recommended.

This marvellous hotel has only just opened after being painstakingly and beautifully renovated over a number of years. Having just opened the decor is in perfect condition and the renovation has been achieved with taste and style. Located on the shores of Ulswater (our favourite Lake), the rooms offer beautiful views over the water or over the fells - the suite overlooking the Lake is simply fantastic. The hotel is only a short walk from the Ulswater Steam ferries and from a number of pubs and cafes (Fell Bites being the best of them and highly recommended), so while the hotel is extremely peaceful (well away from the road) it is not remote.
Our room was decorated and furnished to an extremely high standard - think London boutique hotel not B&B - and the dining room/ lounge was a tranquil spacious room full of light and offering great Lake views. Breakfast was really delicious, high quality sausages and bacon with fresh fruit also provided to lower the full English breakfast guilt. Best of all though is the welcome you get - warm, hospitable and attentive. It is only fair to point out that the hosts are still working on landscaping the grounds, but this does not detract from what is a top class choice. You will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Rooms to the entrance side and the rear over the Lake offer the best views

We had a really lovely stay here during May. The hotel owners were absolutely charming and went out of their way to look after us. The rooms are fantastic, with views over the lake - which was our favourite in the Lake District - and it was all followed by the best breakfast we had had in the Lake District! The Aira Force waterfall is just around the corner, as are plenty of nice walks, including round the lake, or up to the Great Dodd. We'd highly recommend the hotel to anyone!

I've never left one if these reviews but felt compelled to share what a wonderful hotel this is. My wife and I were lucky to be the first guests and were stunned by just how beautifully this hotel has been renovated.

The views from our lakeside room were amazing, even on a moody bank holiday. The itself was very well furnished, with a really comfortable bed.

The breakfast was very good, I always judge hotel breakfasts in the quality of the sausages (not sure why!) but this definitely passed the test.

I hope this review helps others select this fantastic little hotel and share the wonderful setting and hospitality my wife and I did.
