“A great stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

My wife and I were walking The Pennine Way and we stayed with Nigel in Greenhead. The stay was really nice and we were even given some delicious home made cake upon arrival.
The room was simple but very clean and we had a very good nights sleep.
I recommend anyone visiting Greenhead to give this B&B a try.
Nigel also kindly picked us up from The Pennine Way and dropped us off in the morning to continue our journey which was most appreciated. Thanks Nigel and sorry for the late review :)

This is a small and very nice guest house, just few rooms, very clean, in a quiet village a few miles away from the Hadrian's wall middle section. Nigel and his wife are very friendly and helpful and are definitively a good company for a nice chat. The breakfast is fantastic, especially the scrambled eggs! I definitively recommend for travelers looking for great value for money.

Nigel was a great host. This was our 3rd night along Hadrian's Wall and we were exhausted after our hike. Nigel kindly took us to the local pub and provided a great breakfast the next morning. Nigel even drove us to Hadrian's Wall path the next morning. The room was simple and clean. Nigel could not be beat as a host.

Good central location for walking Hadrians Wall Path. Especially as Nigel was very willing to ferry us around when our itinerary did not fit in with the local bus timetable. His offers of tea and cakes and a run to the pub in the evening were also nice touches. The boot drying room was wonderful as the path was really muddy in places. We stayed 3 nights and couldn't have wished for a more homely b&b.

A bit of a mixed bag for me. On the one hand very close to the Hadrian's Wall Trail and therefore a good location if you are doing the Walk which is complemented by a very very helpful owner who is always pleased to be of assistance during your stay. However, whilst the room was adequate, the ensuite was tiny and if you are of a larger disposition you would struggle to manouvre around the facilities. It was a little disappointing that there was mould discolourisation on the tiles in the shower and the toilet was noisy after flushing. The general standard of the decoration was in need of updating, especially in the kitchen but some might describe it as being quaint ?. There are no TVs in the rooms, which some would see as a positive and the guest /TV lounge is not everyone's cup of tea but can be a good way of meeting other guests. Breakfast was good, but I would not be rushing back .
