What a delightful one night stop-over on our way to Scotland. Very welcoming hosts, a much needed cuppa and lovely fruit cake and biscuits on arrival, the highest standard of immaculate accommodation and an excellent breakfast to set us on our way. Such peaceful surroundings too with plenty of birds to watch feeding in the picturesque gardens. Highly recommended..................we'll certainly be back again one day soon.

I found the cabins clean and well equipped, the couple who run the B&B and cabins are very friendly and helpful.

The Spinney is a super well-run B & B. We have stayed several times now on our visits to and from Scotland and we are always made most welcome. The en-suite accommodation is excellent and the food is as well. We would highly recommend it. It is quiet even though it is just off the A68 and there is plenty of space for parking. The garden is superb, a pleasure to see. The birds on the feeders are a delight too.

Room tip: We always have the same room which is great.

We stayed for 4 nights in Lodge 3 of the Spinney. There were 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin), very comfortable and extremely well equipped, probably the best we've seen for self catering accommodation - as well as a good sized TV and radio/CD player there was a DVD player and a selection of DVDs, games, jigsaws and books and a few toys for small children, luckily the weather was very good for us so we didn't make use of them but it was a lovely touch all the same. The kitchen was very equipped with everything you could possible need. The bathroom had complimentary soap, shower gel and shampoo should you need it and all towels were provided. The owners were both very friendly and helpful.

The lodge is 1 of only 3 in the gardens of the B&B with great views over open countryside. There was a very useful 2 acre field adjacent to the lodge for exercising dogs and the owners were happy for us to take our dogs into the accommodation as long as we didn't leave them unattended during the day. We used the lodge as a base for day trips into Northumbria and Edinburgh.

The only bad points and they are hardly worth mentioning as very minor things but the doors inside the lodge didn't shut very well and the shower cubicle was very small and hardly any room for elbows when washing hair and the water stream was very low pressure.

All in all we thought the accommodation was lovely and we would recommend it to anyone.

Many of he reviews on tripadvisor are for the B&B accommodation. Graham and Sandra Fry also have 3 self catering wood log cabins with great views over the adjacent fields. Great location just off the A68, but very quiet and peaceful. We stayed in the largest cabin with 1 double bedroom and another bedroom with twin beds. Furnishings were to a high standard and all was present and correct. We would certainly recommend this to anyone.
