Creagan House is a very special place to stay in lovely part of Scotland just inside the Highland border.

As always, Cherry’s warm welcome, Gordon’s immaculate cooking and the good company of other guests made for another thoroughly enjoyable stay at our favourite place in Scotland.

We were dissapointed to have to curtail our last visit here but made up for it with a 3 night stay this time. I'm not surprised that this establishment gets so much repeat custom. We met other guests this time who had been coming for 17 and 20 years. Once again the hospitality, accommodation and food were just superb. Gordon uses the best local and seasonal ingredients and produces beautufully cooked, wonderfully understated dishes, not too fussy but allowing the quality and natural flavour of the ingredients to be the focus of every dish. I especially liked his sauces which are never overpowering but compliment and enhance the dishes. The man is a master! Everything from the bread to the chutney to the shortbread is home made and you really can taste the dedication and expertise that goes into the food.
Throughout the superbly appointed bedrooms and beautifully decorated public areas the same attention to detail is manifest. Cherry is an accomplished hostess, welcoming and attentive with a warm personality and wonderful sense of humour and just makes it look easy. There are very few places where you get such quality food and service within such a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, reasonably priced and totally lacking any pretension. Creagan House is unique. Cherry and Gordon are a great team and consummate professionals. Thank you to you both. We had a wonderful stay and will return.

What a superb place to stay. A great place to break a journey to the Islands. I cannot speak too highly of the professionalism of the owners Mr and Mrs Gunn. Their long experience in the trade shows at every turn. Mr Gunn's cooking is excellent and the surroundings in which dinner is served can rarely be matched ! In many places where one has a lovely evening meal, breakfast is prepared by the "reserve" team - not so here ! Mr Gunn's breakfast was just as it should be and served by Mrs Gunn who manages all the front of house matters. Would not hesitate to go again. Thank you for a lovely dinner, breakfast and comfortable stay.

Its such a pleasure returning to Creagan House. Cherry Gunn gave us such a warm welcome and husband/chef Gordon continues to take pride in high quality dishes. In our 12 days in Scotland this year it was hands down still THE best breakfast and porridge. The location is a great starting point from Glasgow or Edinburgh and is the perfect place to start a Highland vacation.

Room Tip: Some of the bathrooms and rooms have sloping ceilings. It adds to the charm... but may be awkward fo...

Our family had exclusive use of Creagan for two days to celebrate the wedding of our son and his (now) wife which took place at the Registry Office in Callander. There is no way that I can find words to describe the amazing experience which all 10 guests enjoyed. There is no detail overlooked by Cherry the highly experienced and delightful front of house owner/manager.( Claridges would be happy to be run with such an efficient manager) Her husband, Gordon, the highly acclaimed chef has won numerous awards and, having sampled his food, we can understand why.
We have stayed in hotels and, eaten at many restaurants, all over the world and can honestly say that nothing can compare with our stay at Creagan. If you are thinking of celebrating a special occasion or just treating yourself, without doubt you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Every room is fantastic, well appointed and comfortable.

Creagan House was recommended by some lovely friends so we knew our stay would be wonderful, but it turned out to be what memories are made of! We enjoyed everything about Creagan House, including the small details like the Molton Brown hand lotion in our room and the hand crafted pottery on the dinner table. The atmosphere was warm and casually elegant thanks in part to our engaging and delightfully witty hostess, Cherry. Our dinner was by far the best of our two week trip and we particularly enjoyed the fresh vegetables(hand picked that morning) and the award winning smokie in a poky. We were in the area for the Lochearnhead Games and we will stay at Creagan House whenever we are fortunate enough to return. It was like visiting family abroad and therefore difficult to move on when it came time to continue our trip. If you are ever in their beautiful part of Scotland, do stay with Cherry and Gordon and let them help you make some incredible memories!

I found Creagan by a combination of Sawday and Tripadvisor and it very much fitted our bill. We wanted a cosy but special place for a small family gathering to celebrate my dad's 80th and we found it at Creagan. We had exclusive use for the weekend and so it was like a rather elegant house party with no cooking, cleaning or washing up involved! We used all 5 rooms and had a couple of teenagers and a 4 year old with us and everyone was able to enjoy the space, the rooms and the garden.
Sometimes pictures on websites can mean you get rather a let down when you see the real thing (careful lighting, wide angle lenses etc!) However if anything I would say that Creagan is more attractive in the flesh than in its pictures! The rooms are all different and all lovely with some fabulous pieces of carved oak furniture. One bedroom is downstairs (the only twin) which was ideal for the teenage lads as one of them is a wheelchair user. (Not power chair-able as there are 2 steps at the front door and the lounge is quite snug but just fine for manual chair.)
Great touches like china cups and a teapot in each room, plus real fresh milk in a flask..
And then there is the food....absolutley delicious....even had my dad trying sauces and combinations I never thought he would! Wonderful veg too...inc. the first new potatoes from the garden. We only ever saw Gordon the chef and husband of Cherry, our host, through the window of the kitchen...but it is obvious that he takes a great pride in his work and has a very good palate. And all the lovely food is complemented by a very extensive and varied wine list.
The dining room too was fantastic and again having it to ourselves felt very special.
