Everything was available that we needed . Very welcoming and attractive. Had a lovely holiday of mixed walking and visits to many nearby attractions from Go ape to
Loch Lomond, Munroes to climb and wild life to explore.
Seven of us stayed (a mix of grandchildren, children and parents from 5 to 65) and had a great time. The house was very comfortable and spacious with plenty of room for younger children and adults not to get on top of each other. The location is great with a village shop a few minutes walk away and Callander with small supermarkets and other shops around 15 minutes drive away. There is a great local playpark for younger children next to the village shop and a really good cafe in the park next to the house. What I enjoyed most was cycling with my wife and daughter along the local cycle paths to Killin and Callander and most of all a ride along quiet backroads to Balquhidder and along loch voil for lunch at Monachyle Mhor hotel. We were lucky with the weather with little rain and surprisingly quite a lot of sun. The midges weren't too bad either.
Long weekend at this property at the beginning of July. The house was spacious, very clean and well appointed. Everything that could be needed was there, the beds were comfortable and the upstairs shower was a delight to use. The weather was not great but the easy access to the cycle route meant that we could walk in the countryside without wellies and the dog particularly appreciated the underfloor heating to dry off after her walks. The location is great for exploring the Trossachs and surrounding country with Falls of Dockart at Killin worth a visit as is Kenmore on Loch Tay. Hope to visit for longer next time.
Strathyre is a lovely little village between Callander and Lochearnhead, with Loch Voil and Loch Lubnaig on the doorstep. The house is next to a park with the river running behind and the Broch Cafe serving good coffee and tasty food a short walk away. The location is even further improved by its proximity to four of the Mhor culinary establishments: Mhor 84, Monachle Mhor, Mhor Fish, and Mhor Bread, all of which are world class.
The house itself is delightful. It's clean and spacious, with an airy and light seating area in the entryway where we spent many hours reading, drinking a glass of wine, and watching the bats setting out for their nightly forage. The open plan living area, with a balcony overlooking the dining room, is a wonderful space for a large group to be together without being on top of each other. Highly recommended!
This home was in a great location near some of the smaller lochs which which we preferred to Loch Lommond which was much busier. There was some great walks on the doorstep and plenty of attractions a short drive away, We loved the impressive Stirling Castle, even in the rain! A trip to Glasgow on the train from Dunblane was easy. A bonus was the superb Cafe Broch next door, and several other good pubs and restaurants near by. Lots of useful advice from the owners.
The description in the title says it all really. We enjoyed a memorable and fun filled family holiday in Scotland and this gorgeous holiday home was the perfect base. The icing on the cake. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Glenvarloch to family and friends. We're already planning a return visit.
Stayed over the weekend of the Strathyre Music Festival - two families with young children. Great, comfortable and spacious house - very well-equipped. Luxurious but not pretentious.
Fantastic location - straight across the road from the pub, and in fantastic walking and cycling countryside.
Nothing negative to say!
