“great place to stay in the Trossachs”
Reviewed 30 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We stayed at Balvaig for 7 days in early June. It's a lovely house - right by the river on a small "estate" of widely spaced log cabins. The cabin had everything we needed, and the video collection was so good (childrens, actions, romcom, art-house) that I was seriously worried about the weather: but in fact we had a good mixture of sun and rain. 3 of us stayed all week and two more for 3 days plus 2 more friends came for the day and the cabin fitted us all comfortably. It's a 10 minute walk to the village shop which has a good range of food, cleaning stuff, papers and it's a Post Office. There is lots of good walking right from the door - in the valley by the river, or on the forestry road behind the house or up through the forestry to An Sidhean or, Benvane (ok we didn't quite get to the top of that one,) and with a lift or use of the bus to start from the Forest Holiday site, Ben Ledi.
The cycle tracks are great - the newest one, parallel to the A84 far enough away to be peaceful, is not even on the OS map yet. We rented bikes from Strathyre Bikes, in the village, and went on a Twilight Walk with Strathyre Outdoors.
Any down points? - I love river swimming but the river was way too full for me to be tempted!

“Fab Stay”
Reviewed 10 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Stayed in the cabin for 5 nights in June with my boyfriend & our Labrador and had a brilliant stay. Although we were very unlucky with the weather the cabin had everything we could have wanted and was lovely to come back to dry off & get cosy in front of the log burner -what a treat! The heavy rain/wind and low cloud sometimes meant the TV channels weren't great but there was enough to keep us entertained...mainly the views!!
Fab walks minutes from the cabin & is close to lovely Callander. Great base to explore, would highly recommend & look forward to visiting again soon!

“Lovely cabin in fabulous location for enjoying the Trossachs.”
Reviewed 3 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

The cabin was exceptionally well equipped and very comfortable for the four of us. Don't be put off if it seems dark and cold on arrival - once we opened the blinds and followed the instructions to turn the heating on it quickly became very bright, cosy and welcoming. The setting and the views from the windows were delightful with plenty of birdlife and changing mountain scenery. The snow we had in the first few days settled above 600m to make the views spectacular - especially from An Sidhean (the hill 400m above the cabin - well worth the climb), and from the short easy cycle to Balqhidder and walk up to Creag an Tuirc. Lots to do walking/cycling straight from the cabin and endless possiblitiies within reach of a short drive.

“Beautiful holiday experience”
Reviewed 7 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

An enjoyable holiday in a great location. The cabin was well equipped and had a lovely log burner. It was clean and ideal to use as a family. The surrounding area gave beautiful scenic walks and cycle rides. Plenty to see and do. Look forward to a return trip.

“Escape”
Reviewed 6 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Arrived and were greeted by Karen the owner who was very welcoming in showing us around. On our first day we had a 10" snowfall, it was like a Christmas scene in the Alps, peaceful, calm, looking onto the outstanding beauty of the snow covered hills surrounding us. An amazing time of hill walks, cozy nights by the log fire in this well equipped cabin left us feeling refreshed and alive...we'll definitely be back!

“Pure relax...”
Reviewed 24 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We stayed at cabin for a week in February and could not ask for a warmer welcome. The cabin was very well equipped so whatever you needed you could find it there. There was no internet and it was something what I worried about, but after 2 days I forgot about FB, mail, work... Finally I could relax.
Everyday forest walks were brilliant but Most enjoyable for the kids were night escapades with torches! You can't be bored even during "typical Scottish weather" - many games, DVDs etc. highly recommend!
