“luxurious and excellent service”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

An excellent hotel, we stayed there for three nights as a weekend away for my wife's birthday. Met by staff as soon as we arrived and our luggage was taken to our room. Food really excellent with good choice. My wife has a gluten intolerance, this was no problem at all at any meal. Beautiful location with deer outside the window at one point. Staff friendly and happy to talk if we were. One slightly negative point, there is a snooker table with at least some straight cues, but no triangle to set up the reds, and the chalk was so worn out it was nearly nonexistent. There is also quite a bit of roll-off on the table, so no gentle shots!

Would definitely return.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to have a good view over Lochinver.

Stayed for a single night, during a two week tour of Northwest and Harris/Lewis. Stayed in B+Bs and Guest Houses, and many were excellent, but Inver Lodge was easily the priciest (but still reasonable.)

From the outside, the hotel is architecturally modest, but inside.... yes, that's definitely why it's a five star. The room itself was massive, and luxurious. As was the bed. Room wasn't the quietest that I've had - I could hear some blustering fishermen in the front hall - but definitely not a problem.

Breakfast was excellent, as you might expect from a Roux brothers restaurant. Staff were attentive and great. (I was surprise to hear Spanish accents - but they brought a little sunshine to a damp night.)

Pricy, but excellent.

Really enjoyed our stay here, great dinner, great wine, very comfortable beds, lovely fresh air!
Building looks slightly disappointing from the outside but nice inside, we had a great stay!
Breakfast could have been better - Eggs Benedict was very disappointing and Scottish Breakfast too, compared to dinner was like a different kitchen!

The village of Lochinver is not the most attractive but the Inver Lodge Hotel situated high above the village with beautiful views over the bay becomes a destination on its own. The building itself is would not win any architectural awards but the interior is warm, very comfortable and you feel encased in luxury.

Our room was large and very well equipped as you would expect of a 5 star establishment. We had dinner in their restaurant which was excellent. The staff were very attentive and clearly well trained, the selection of food well chosen and the wine list suitable for the most discerning of tastes. Breakfast the next day was also good with particularly good kippers on offer.

They have a sauna suite and should you chose to use it, becomes a private use which was particularly pleasant although the showers in the suite were not easy to use.

We thoroughly enjoyed the visit although I was rather annoyed to find that a so called discretionary service charge was added to the bill when I went to settle our account. I have to say that I prefer to chose what tips I leave.

Thank you for your much appreciated review of your stay at Inver Lodge. It is good to read that you enjoyed all aspects of your stay apart from the discretionary service charge, which we are always happy to remove should the guest not be happy to pay it, as you mentioned many guests prefer to leave their own gratuity rather than the service charge added for food and beverage. I hope that we can welcome you back next time you are planning to visit the area. Kind regards, Nicholas Gorton

Another trip to our favourite hotel in our favourite part of the country.
The weather was not kind to us for the first two days but what a treat to come back to all the friendly faces at the Inverlodge. Mr Gorton and his team make each guest feel especially welcome and go the extra mile as far as comfort and service are concerned.

We found the restaurant food to be all one would hope for in an Albert Roux restaurant. We dined in each night of our stay and were never disappointed. The fish being a particular favourite.

Our room was spotlessly clean with perfect views over to the islands.
Each and everyone of the staff were friendly yet professional. In short a wonderful experience and we are already planning our next trip.

We had a lovely two nights break here, the room was in excellent condition with a harbour view. Its the quietest hotel room I have ever stayed in. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. The food was excellent, well presented and cooked. Would recommend

Set above Lochinver, all rooms have a sea view and this coupled to the spacious, comfortable room made the stay comfortable. Modern bathroom, but be careful with the shower, as mine randomly changed temperature to 'red hot' with out warning. The staff, particularly at check-in were very friendly and welcoming. Restaurant menu did not inspire, so ate elsewhere. Opted for room service for breakfast, which was prompt and courteous.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Inver Lodge, we are indeed fortunate to have the most wonderful location making the most of the view over Lochinver Bay and at the rear the most majestic view of Suilven and Canisp. Thank you for mentioning the problem with your shower which I will have looked at. I hope that when you next come to the NW Highlands that we can welcome you back. Kind regards, Nicholas Gorton
