“A home from home in probably the most beautiful location in Scotland. Perfect!”
Reviewed 13 October 2010

We stayed just one night at The Shieling in Plockton, but wish we'd spent the whole week here rather than moving around the country. The Shieling is less than a stones throw from Loch Carron, the Loch is at the bottom of your garden, we had a room with a loch view which was fantastic. The owners of the property were both lovely and our breakfast of local Mackerel with scrambled eggs was amazing.
The double room was generously big with a double and single bed both placed in the room.
The was great information on local activities around the village and the couple seemed to be well known around the town and were happy to advise on a whole manner of things including the best restaurants and walks around the area.
Wonderful value and a great experience, I would highly recommend The Shieling, the perfect Scottish home from home.

Wanted to book a hotel in Plockton but all busy - in September! The reason is the place is just beautiful, so thanks to the trip advisor's comments I booked this B & B, great choice.

Very friendly couple, nice sized bedroom with en-suite, exceptionally clean, super breakfast.
(Although for me, a tired and worn out soul, I found 8/8.30am breakfast far to early.)

If you are after a B & B in Plockton - this would be my first choice.

This was one of the friendliest guest houses we stayed at during our holiday in Scotland. We couldn't fault the accommodation and the food was superb with plenty of choices and home made bread too! The welcome folder contained lots of useful information about places to visit and sample menus from the excellent local restaurants - something not always provided in smaller B & Bs.
We really enjoyed our two night stay in this fabulous location and look forward to visiting again in the near future..... Diane & David

Having travelled throughout the Highlands..it was so refreshing to meet actual Scottish folks..............Most of the people we stayed with were English. Our hosts were delightful and their wee home was so sweet and obviously loved and cared for. Although there were no frills....it was very good value.
The house was spotlessly clean.....and the bed comfy.
The situation of the guest house was perfect. Wonderful views..and a short walk to everything.
Jayne and John were very kind and friendly and I would definitely stay there again......Lynn and Art

Stayed one night at this small but excellently appointed bed and breakfast. A comfortable bed and adequate shower room made for a good nights sleep. The house is situated on the edge of the village within easy walking distance of a number of eating places for dinner. We ate at 'Plockton Shores' which was good value and provided a wel;l thought out menu. Breakfast at the Shieling was more than adequate and included freshly baked bread and a host of cooked choices. A warm welcome and a good value for money tariff leads us to recommend this very strongly either as a stop en route or as a base for exploring this part of Scotland.

A wee gem of a place. The rooms were spotless and the food was excellent. John and Jane are the definition of highland hospitality. Nothing is too much trouble for them. A very friendly and warm welcome awaits you here. The views were fantastic from our room and the flowers that were in bloom in the garden just added to the tranquility of the Shieling.
Thanks for a wonderful stay in a wonderful setting

The Shieling was spotlessly clean and the service from Jane was excellent. A bit of updating might help but it was more than acceptable. It's setting was one of the most delightful places we have visited with Loch views from every window. We shall certainly go back for another stay as soon as possible.
