Owner description: The idyllic village of Plockton and its sheltered waters provide one of the best locations in Scotland for learning and improving your kayak skills, under the guidance of Alison French, a fully qualified sea kayak instructor.Sea kayaking out of Plockton enables you to experience breathtaking panoramic views of the Isle of Skye, Applecross and Torridon mountains and reach coral beaches only accessible by boat. Wildlife is abundant and journeying by kayak will give you the special opportunity to explore the fascinating coastline and get close up to otters, seals and even porpoise. We also explore the Isle of Skye’s remote and inaccessible coastline, with its Cuillin mountains providing a spectacular backdrop. Here we may see basking shark and Minke whales. The sea around the Isle of Skye presents the kayaker with an array of conditions to hone skills and play in. The Atlantic tides squeeze through the narrows of Kylerhea and Kyle of Lochalsh presenting the more experienced paddler with rougher water to practice techniques. You will be equipped with top quality sea kayaks, paddles, clothing and safety gear, and will receive expert tuition in a guaranteed small group environment. Coaching is highly personalised and professional, with your safety and comfort paramount. Your day will be tailored to your needs so that your sea kayak experience is an exceptional one.

Having meet Alison French for a days kayaking with my children in April my son and I with 3 friends have just 3 days kayaking around the Plockton area. Whilst the weather was a little intimidating at first with blustery conditions and choppy seas for two days it somehow enhanced the experience utilising the skills which Alison professionally taught us.
The third day around Plockton village was memorable visiting coral beaches and having so many laughs as we learnt how to do eskimo rescues, towing techniques etc.
She is a great instructor who has tremendous patience and is great fun to be with, and we cannot recommend her highly enough to anyone wishing to experience a great activity in one of the most picturesque parts of Britain we have ever visited

We were on a 1000 mile UK road trip with our children ages 13 and 10 and this was our favorite day of the entire trip!!! This was the first time we had sea kayaked. We met Alison at 10 am, she set us up with all the gear we needed, gave us a little instruction then we were off on a perfect day on the water! It was late July. The weather was overcast in the morning but then beautiful by noon. I was a little worried about the kids in choppy water but Plockton is a protected inlet and the water was smooth as glass, very cold and crystal clear. Alison was great with the kids! They loved her! She was friendly, informative and I felt perfectly safe with her guidance the entire day!

We had 4 days of skills development, covering the 3 star assessment syllabus. Alison's coaching was thorough and thoughtful, with an emphasis on confidence-building and enjoyment in a fantastic environment. I would recommend Sea Kayak Plockton for beginners who are looking for an introductory taster to more experienced kayakers who are building up their skills. It's a measure of Alison's professionalism that she didn't laugh at my first attempts at rolling, which were (what's the word?)...anarchic! Getting better with practice though.

A brilliant day paddling along the coast, eventually reaching our lunch destination of a beautiful picturesque island and surroundings. Alison was calm, reassuring and a skilful instructor who enabled all of us to extend our very basic kayaking skills and have a great time. I especially appreciated the excellent quality of equipment provided, this made the whole experience much more enjoyable. I would strongly recommend Sea Kayak Plockton and would go again myself.
