“beautifully furnished spot for those wanting an offbeat experience”

Beauitful, warm, cosy accommodation. Everything you need.
Takes about 15 mins to walk down into Plockton where there are lovely pubs and ceilidhs and great seafood.

“Andy Murray and Off The Rails”

Where do we start a fantastic part of the world , the accommodation is first class and five star especially if you like trains and a little quirkiness. Our son particularly enjoyed sleeping in the ticket office, shouting through his drink orders via the ticket window.A little disconcerting some early mornings to have people right outside your bedroom window but a big positive to be able to get so up close and personal with the Flying Scotsman.
It was fun sitting on the platform talking to the many travellers passing through and explaining that we were also tourists in our holiday accommodation.
We had a brilliant time at the Ceilidh and musical evening and meeting many of the local characters.
Food what can I say but " Plockton prawns"
We will be back sooner rather than later
Off the rails will have a place in my heart because that is where I watched Andy Murray win his Gold Medal.

It is great to know you enjoyed your holiday in Plockton and that Andrew enjoyed speaking through the ticket window where many a local also spoke through to order a ticket over 100 years ago! We look forward to welcoming you back.

“Gloriously unique!”
Reviewed 22 May 2013 for a stay in September 2012

This expertly restored Victorian railway station offers 21st century comfort in a truly historic setting. Free Wi-Fi and a roaring open fire are odd companions but go together brilliantly!
Passing (and stopping) trains do not impinge on the peace and quiet, but just add to the atmosphere.
The beds are comfortable, the hot water plentiful and the little town of Plockton full of great seafood. What more could you ask?

“Amazing accomodation surrounded by the beauty of Plockton”
Reviewed 22 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Friends of ours from Australia were over on vacation, and wanted to see some of Scotland's best scenery. Good friends of ours from Fife suggested that we should contact Calum and Jane who have a B & B in Plockton. In addition they have "Off the Rails" which, as the name implies, is an outstanding conversion of Plockton station to a wonderful and unique self catering venue. The spacious, well furnished accomodation offers the very best that we have experienced in Scotland over many years. Many a 4 star hotel would be delighted to offer such comfort! One of the en suite bedrooms has a sauna which alas we did not have time to experience. Plockton station is still operated by Scotrail, but the small number of trains which stop at Plockton per day does not spoil this amazing venue.
Plockton village is a 10 minute walk away where good restaurants and eateries can be found. A trip on Calum's boat to see the local seal population is a must. He relates many good amusing tales of his pet seals!
This delightful accomodation is a must for anyone visiting the north west Highlands. Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye are within easy driving distance.

“Superb accommodation in the best village in Scotland”
Reviewed 22 May 2013 for a stay in May 2012

We have stayed here twice and will be back again soon. Plockton is beautiful, always. The Plockton Station is excellent; very comfortable with great individual character and everything you need.. The ensuite shower room with sauna is a real bonus if the weather is dodgy. There are great walks straight from the door without needing to get in the car (to the coral beach, through the village to Rubha Mor point or for the fitter, up the track to the mast on the crags. Alternatively you can walk to either of the great pubs or the Shores restaurant if you don't want to take "self catering" too literally. You don't need to be a train spotter to love this. There are only a few trains each day – so no disturbance.

“This is living!”
Reviewed 22 May 2013 for a stay in July 2012

This place is the town's rail station house, converted to a vacation rental. It is STILL an active station and people come and go right outside your windows. We are train lovers and really enjoyed watching them come through, just made sure the windows were covered when we wanted privacy (no trains at night) We really enjoyed seeing the Royal Scotsman come in for a stop. You can take a trip from here too!
The station is beautifully appointed with two luxurious bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen/dining and sitting room. We also tried the sauna but decided it wasn't our thing. (We come from a hot, humid climate). Really enjoyed Callum's seal trip which was a pleasant bonus to our stay.
