Lovely location and views across the water. However, the room we had was dated, felt damp and all the furniture rattled as you walked around the room. The bathroom was up a few steps and needed updating. Unfortunately we were right above the front door of the hotel so every time it banged out bed shook.

We ate at the hotel and the food was average. It all just seemed like they were taking advantage of a captive audience...it cost us £180 for dinner, bed and breakfast (no drinks) which seems slightly excessive.

All the staff worked very hard and were friendly and helpful.

The little touches were missing and they are the things that are important!

Every aspect of this hotel is of the highest quality. From the standard of refurbishment of an old building and its upkeep, the decor and amenity if the bedrooms, the friendliness and attention to service of the staff, to the choice and quality of the food in the restaurant and bar. And then add its location right on the waterfront of one of Scotland's most picturesque villages and you really do have a winning combination.

I'm keeping it brief. We had a room in the cottage for two nights. Loved the room and the view out of the window across the water.

Food was served in the main hotel. Breakfast was the most varied menu we had anywhere doing our stay in Scotland. Smoked salmon and eggs were a great start to the day but we also enjoyed the cooked breakfast on Day 1.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Mags was lovely and full of tips to make the best of our time there.

I really recommend more than two nights as Plockton is such a great place.

Hadn't stayed here for about 30 years and didn't realise it is now double the size it used to be with addition of the adjoining property. There is a small beer garden on the shore front opposite the hotel which was perfect for a sundowner. Room excellent, complete with robes, which was unexpected. Views fabulous, food fantastic and all freshly cooked. Could not fault the whole experience, Friendly, obliging staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view
