If you have a dog don't go here after being told we could sit in very small room which was very uninviting we were told by another member of staff we could not stay there. We were instructed to go down side lane into the bar, this was very unsuitable because the seats were very high bar seats with very high table which my 88 year old mother-in-law was unable to sit at as table came up to her chest. We left and went somewhere more dog friendly.

We are very, very sorry to hear that you had this experience with us. Whilst we don't allow dogs (with the exception of assistance dogs) into the main restaurant, they are allowed in our bar so this has clearly been a training issue. Once again, we are sorry for this experience.

This hotel was exactly what we were after in our discovery trip around the NC500 We stayed here 2 nights and the whole place just seemed authentic. A delightful village plenty of walks, views to amaze, a boat trip as well. We had a front room overlooking the water. They even did our washing for us free of charge. The food was amazing and the hotel cozy enough that we got to meet other travellers. Thoroughly recommend

My husband and I recently stayed two nights at the Plockton Hotel during a tour of Scotland. We were not exactly greeted in a friendly manner - no warm welcome - just a young gal that showed us to our room and pretty much only that.
As Plockton was one of the overnight 'stops', and we love seafood, we were very much looking forward to dining what they advertise as the hotel's 'seafood restaurant'. Both nights they rather abruptly and rudely informed us there were 'no prawns' and unfortunately, most of the seafood menu items involved prawns. On night number 2, they were already 'out of the crab knuckles' (appetizer) but managed to get a 1/2 order together for one of us. We got the impression that we, as 'tourists', were an inconvenience, and it was clear that they were more interested in serving the locals frequenting the establishment. The evening meals we ordered were adequate - that's all. But there's not a lot of dining alternatives to choose from. The cooked part of the breakfast was not very appealing however the 'cold' part was minimal, but fine. The room, itself, was cute and we had a sea view - unfortunately, there was only a tub and not a 'walk-in' shower so if you have difficulty getting in and out of a deep tub, it's not convenient. As mentioned, we were not 'greeted' when we arrived - there was nothing personal or friendly. It was more like we were a bother, of sorts. There is no alarm clock so I asked for a wake-up call which came 40 minutes late - so go prepared, if you plan to get up early. It is a lovely spot but unfortunate there is little by way of hotel or restaurants to choose from.

Room Tip: front room with harbour view is nice - thin walls - can hear neighbours

We were on a short tour of Scotland and were booked into the Plockton Hotel ... a small village of 300. For 2 nights we were pampered in a lovely room! The Staff was excellent, the room was amazing and they even did our laundry while we were there - no charge! The bar/restaurant were outstanding. This is truly one of the world's hidden gems!
