Fabulous accommodation with two bedrooms leading onto a private secure garden great for children and pets. Excellent seafood served in the restaurant. Unfortunately the waiting staff let the place down, they were glum and dispassionate, it seemed as if going to work was a real chore. Come on girls, a smile, good evening and good morning goes a long way.

Room Tip: Ask for room 9 for kids and pets, fabulous.

This was my 4th visit to Plockton. On 2 previous occasion I stayed at the hotel but this time stayed elsewhere but visited for a meal one evening. We stayed in Plockton for 4 nights so we ate at all 3 of Plocktons main eateries (here, the Plockton Hotel and Plockton Shores) and once again, as last time, the meal at The Plockton Inn was the best of the 3 meal by far.

The seafood platter was amazing (where to start?) and my brother who was with me opted for the strips of steak in a whisky sauce which were amazing. Don't get me wrong, the Hotel and The Shores were very good meals too but were not as good as the quality of the Inn which has always been fantastic on my 4 visits. Another return is planned for next March. I'm already looking forward to the seafood platter.

This is not the first visit to Plockton or The Plockton Inn. I was out to impress my Canadian visitors and no better place to visit than Plockton. I had stayed at the Inn before so I knew what to expect. The rooms are clean and pleasant enough, what you would expect from a inn / hotel of this size.

Advanced booking of a table in the restaurant is recommended as it fills up fairly quickly. I ordered my "usual" Haggis with Beetroot with a main of Haddock and Chips. Finished off with the local cheeseboard. Not very exciting you may say, but somehow it all just tastes better. There is just too much good food to choose on the menu. The rest of the family had a variety of options, but not a complaint from anyone.

Considering this was the Plockton Regatta week I did not hear any noise outside or inside. Another very enjoyable trip.

We arrived at 1pm on a busy Saturday lunchtime at the beginning of August whilst on holiday nearby. We had not made a reservation but the menu displayed outside looked very appetising, especially the 'daily specials'. Upon entering a waitress happily showed us to an available table by the window at the front of the bar area.

The waitresses were all very pleasant and attentive throughout. The eating areas looked clean and the staff were professional and courteous despite being very busy.

For starters we ordered the seafood chowder and the homemade butternut squash and ginger soup from the specials menu, both were enjoyable.

For our main course we chose the seafood platter and the battered haddock and chips, both from the lunchtime menu. Again the quality of the food was excellent, the fish tasted fresh and the batter was both light and crispy.

For dessert we decided to share the Scottish cheeseboard, which contained four really delicious locally produced cheeses.

We would be happy to return again and try some of the many other tempting options on the menu.

In summary, great, fresh food served by friendly and attentive waitresses.

We arrived without booking as visiting Plockton was a last minute decision. The welcome was warm and friendly and we were sitting at our table and drinking cask ale within 5 minutes of arriving. We all had the fish chowder which was filling and tasty. Good choice of local real ales all reasonably priced, a true fish-lovers paradise with local produce being the king.

First time visit to tranquil Plockton, arrived here on a whim whilst travelling back south from Skye and stayed for one night at the Inn. We had a large room across the street in the hotel's other premises which was very clean and comfortable. The well stocked bar was awash with good whisky and the seafood platter was a joy to behold. Friendly staff and locals, a place we will visit again in the near future. Four stars only because of the short visit.
