“Amazing sight of the sunset in Tyr”

As we were going through the old Sur in Lebanon we came across a beautiful yellow old building. It had a lighthouse attached to it and from this came its name, Al Fanar. We were happily surprised to find out that it was a hotel and a restaurant as well. The inside of this building was quite magnificent with the impression of sitting in a cave, it was old stones and arches with old wood and leather. The outside seating is practically on top of the water of the lovely beach in Sur, or Tyr as it is called. We had a delicious seafood meal with mouthwatering taste. Just grilled fish fillet but it was yummy. In the meantime we were fortunate to watch the sunset as we were eating. Many people were fishing around us and some were sunbathing. We were just enjoying the scene and relaxing. One thing we did not like was the long time it took them to get our meal, but with enjoying the lovely sunset we did not much minded.

and that in itself is worth spending the night there. it's a charming old structure with lots of antiques and marine stuff on display throughout the hotel, just keep a good lookout! the food is good, the drinks are served cold and there's a little bay where you can just lounge in the water. its main perk is the fact that's it's right at the water. lovely place.

Worth finding, this charming little restaurant lies just around the corner of the lighthouse guarding the ancient Lebanese port of Tyre, steeped in the history of the crusades. The interior restaurant
is cosy and warm. However, if it's lunch you want and it's fine weather, sitting out on the decking over the beach is a delightful way to spend an hour or two , eating excellent food either Lebanese or more international served in a very friendly way.
