Rented this cottage for some extended family visiting from Italy who wanted to experience Canada. They pictures they took were fantastic and they couldn't stop raving about the place.

As nice as the place is, what is just as impressive is how Susan and Denis manage it. Communication is great and Susan took care of every detail for us. So friendly and accommodating. So much so that my wife and I are considering pre booking a family vacation for next year!

“Exceptional nature getaway”

We stayed at Blue Heron. The service from Susan was outstanding. A highlight was the queen bed with private lakefront view and wildlife sightings.

The relaxing atmosphere and the beautiful nature surroundings made this a perfect getaway for us. We throughly enjoyed the entire property and everything was well kept, woodsy and clean. A bonus was the selection of coffees to choose from in the kitchen and true wood fireplace. We visited nearby Algonquin park (which Susan provided a free pass) completing this trip for us. Overall we would highly recommend staying here, especially for couples looking for a nice relaxing getaway.

“Amazing Getaway!”
Reviewed 27 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We returned to Blue Heron for a weekend getaway and consider it a home away from home as we visit every time we come to Muskoka. As always, Susan was more than accommodating and met all of our needs. Every time we visit we are welcomed into a beautiful, warm, clean environment and we are always blown away how Susan makes our stay perfect down to the last detail (fresh towels, spotless rental and even hand made soap!!) Always up to our standards. Will return again very soon!

“Beautiful, well equipped cottage, scenic views, amazing host... perfect vacation!”
Reviewed 12 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

If you're looking for a perfect place to stay for your Muskoka/Algonquin vacation, look no further. You can't go wrong with Blue Heron. We were two couples and we stayed at the cottage May 6-8 and really got lucky with the weather. We got to take the canoe (complimentary with the cottage booking) out on the lake, we BBQed, we played basketball in the backyard, we enjoyed the scenic view... and when it rained, we enjoyed great food and conversations around the fireplace. Algonquin Park was amazing as well (we were provided a complimentary pass by Susan). We did the Whiskey Rapids, Peck Lake, Lookout and Track and Tower trails. But to be honest, even with great weather, we spent 60% of our time at the cottage, because we had such a great time and didn't want to leave. There are tones of things to do at the cottage.
The cottage is beautiful, well equipped with anything you might need, and if you need something that's not there, be Sure that Susan will quickly provide you with it. For us it was an extra blanket, a large baking sheet (my husband baked us pretzels to go with the beer) and travel recommendations.
Susan is the best host I've ever met. She's attentive, detail and service oriented, friendly, nice, you can easily reach her when you need her, but other than that, she made herself invisible :)
I wish we could stay longer. We're definitely coming back!

Thank you so much Inna for your exceptional commentary both online and in our guest book! Wow! Its both an honour a privilege to have such enthusiastic guests who enjoy nature and all that Muskoka has to offer! We strive to ensure every guest is welcome and has everything conveniently on hand throughout their stay. What a treat it was to hear that you were all able to view not one but three moose in their natural habitat!

Do take good care and look forward in seeing you all again on your next Algonquin venture!

Our stay was short, only three nights. Blue Heron was the perfect retreat from
a busy world. The cottage was nestled amoung the woods. It was clean, spacious and had a very comfortable bed. We found having a paddle boat a blessing as neither one of us had canoed in many years, even our dog enjoyed it.Nights gave us the splendour of a starry night, something We miss coming from a city, We also lit a campfire-something and just relaxed watching as the day turned to night. One of the days We drove into Algonquin and hiked the Hemlock trail which was beautiful. On the way back We spotted a black bear running across the highway and then scaling a rock wall. This was a great ending to our vacation.
