“good local fare that caters to locals and tourists”

El Zarco has good local cuisine at a reasonable price. It seems to be full every day for lunch.

“Simply horrible!”

Just don't go there! It is always really busy but we think that is simply because it in the centre of town. Nasty, nasty food!

“Feel and eat like a local”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2011

This restaurant is always packed full with locals: a good sign.

The food menu is extensive and reasonably priced, the food itself is heavy local cooking and tends to be a bit on the greasy side (don't bother ordering the french fries)
The dishes are bit of a hit and miss: the Churrasco was very tough and not much taste. But the Trucha frito and the special mixed plate with stuffed peppers and fresh tamales was very tasty.

There are three dining rooms, one being a big dining hall packed full with tables and the other two looking slightly bit more formal. Service is very slow and it's hard to get their attention.

The main reason to visit this place is to soak up the atmosphere of a true local food joint.
