“Relaxing place but Reception not helpful”
Reviewed 12 August 2013

I stayed for a couple of days, the junior suite was clean with a big king size bed, the receptionist failed to informed us of all the facilities of the hotel.
It is a pity that the hotel will not accept credit cards, I had to pay directly to the Hotel bank account in Lima and send the receipt to them by email.
I had to wait so many times in the phone or wait for them to called me back, the reason is that they have only one receptionist at all times, when they have so many employees for everything else.
In summary it is a nice place to stay and enjoy natural hot springs in your own room.

Room Tip: I had problem sleeping, noisy neighbors, likely a called to the reception helped, choose an isolated...

This attractive hacienda-style hotel complex, just outside Cajamarca, was a great find for us. We'd love to go back. Other reviews do not sufficiently emphasize how attractive are the extensive grounds, with flowering hibiscus bushes everywhere, and how exotic it is to have hot thermal waters running along small canals through these grounds. In the mornings, steam from these thermal waters rises enticingly all around - a unique experience for us. The waters are captured - and cooled down - in two lovely pools in the grounds, open 24/7 I think. Whatever the weather, it's quite a treat to swim in these warm waters.

The rooms are nice, if simply furnished. The restaurant is attractive and the food good. The breakfast room, up a flight of outdoor steps reached by a pleasant walk through the grounds, and offering good views of the property, is a delightful way to start the day.

My wife loved the spa/massage (next to the pool).

It´s a hotel located very close to the city, if you wish to go downtown the taxi fare is no more than US$4 and ten minutes travel time, and something important about them, are safe.
The hotel is not new, it was build like a traditional hacienda style, but it is comfortable enough according his 4* cathegory. I think it needs a maintenance in its rooms like carpets and curtains. It has a great landscape view
I rent a Junior Suite room, it has a adecquated size and the most important is the tube in the bathroom you can fill with thermal wather. In addition, there are swimming pools with this thermal waters.
The service is good, the employees are very friendly looking fot attend all you can need. The restaurants are not expensive and good enough. You can taste cuy, trucha and other regional products.
If you are looking for a modern hotel this is not your choice, but if you wish to rest and peaceful, both you need after the day tours you can ride, come to this hotel.
It has an on-site zoo, small but diverse, also you can take horse ride, expect a paso horse show every day.

Room Tip: I recommend Junior Suite room, well equiped and big enough. The double ber roon not all have a garde...

This was an absolutely lovely place out in the country. The grounds were gorgeous, with canals carrying hot water running throughout the property. The room itself (a junior suite) was surprisingly small but the bathroom was huge with a gigantic tub you could fill with the hot water. There are two restaurants on the property with pretty decent food. The breakfast buffet was particularly good with a great selection of local cheeses (Cajamarca is dairy country). There is horse riding available on the property and a mini zoo with several different friendly animals. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The thermal pools on the property were terrific and clean. The cleanliness of the whole property was very impressive. The only downside of the stay was that the village behind had a loud music festival of some kind so you could hear amplified music well into the night. But that's hardly the hotel's fault. Highly recommended (although a bit overpriced).

The highlight of our stay was the gigantic and relaxing bath in our room. The huge bath (pretty much the size of a private hot tub) alone made the splurge worth it after a 14 hour journey from Chachapoyas on the Virgen del Carmen. The food is decent enough. The on-site zoo was interesting and surprisingly diverse. The property is nicely manicured and peaceful.

I have been staying here for one month so far. I have stayed in better hotels in Cajamarca. The best part of the hotel is that it is very quiet. Since I have moved into a room with a larger bed, it is better. I must admit this king size bed is very comfortable. The rooms are not cleaned well. Sometimes the laundry stinks, the food is not that great and expensive. Worst of all they stole my watch out of my room and they do not intend to make it right. SAD! No safes in the rooms. Below average. You decide....

DO not get fooled into staying somewhere else. Most of the other hotels are in the city center and very loud and busy with cars (you know how peru loves to honk their horns)
If you want a peaceful setting to relax after hiking etc you should stay here. The thermal baths are lovely, not as nice as in Costa Rica (tabacon) but warm and relaxing. yes- there are bugs (big ones) floating dead on the pool (not too many), but it does not change the relaxation!
Try to go to Cumbe Mayo but get a guide arranged prior (we arrived and everyone had left so we did not have a guide)
Rooms are very clean- beds are comfortable, nice sheets and pillows and bathrooms are spacious

Room Tip: pick rooms closer to the main pool and nearer the horses. The rooms further away (shaped like a L&qu...
