What a find...

Fantastic pub, Fantastic atmosphere, Fantastic ales, Fantastic food. Incredible bar staff. Superb landlord and landlady this traditional pub does it all!

Amazing food and drink in a warm traditional country pub. NOT a pretentious pub masquerading as a restaurant like some of the local pubs around here.

This is a real pub with real people, real ale's and real food; a must for anyone one and everyone who enjoy a traditional pub atmosphere, fantastic food and amazing hosts.

The menu is second to none. Locally sourced foods that you would might well expect to be on the menu of a London restaurant, such as oysters and champagne, but at pub prices and I'm sure much fresher and better quality! These delights are combined with traditional pub fare such as pies and pasties fish and chips and hom-made stews. All leads to just a 100% genuine pub experience with a lovelly cosy log fire to keep you warm.

This is undoubtedly THE BEST pub in the area.

Forget the rest this IS the best!

"Come once and you'll come again and again" to quote their moto and a truer comment could not possibly be made!

I've been here for 2 weeks now and visited 5 times it just gets better and better I look forward to coming back again - in fact I will come to the Devon specifically to visit this lovely pub.

Thank you John and Nikki carry on the good work.

We kind of stumbled across this place having driven off the A38 at Ivybridge and followed our noses, through the very narrow lanes, until we fetched up at Noss Mayo on the Yealm estuary. After driving around on a fruitless journey trying to find somewhere to park, we eventually drove to Newton Ferrers the other side of the water, and boy am I glad we did so. Parking was available for 45 minutes at the top of the steep hill leading down to the foreshore, offering incredible views over the estuary and the surrounding hills, and this time offered us a chance to poke our head around the door of this charming, busy pub. Although the time had passed for serving food, the young lady behind the bar went through to the kitchen, and returned to say that we could have a sandwich or similar if we wished. Our baguettes, stuffed with ham, cheese and pickle with side salads were top dollar, and the Bass ale, served by gravity, was outstandingly good. The locals were helpful with our enquiries for accommodation and such, and it was with much reluctance we left to trudge back up the hill to recover our car, and head back to the Moorland Hotel, Wotter, on Dartmoor.

We pay a visit to Newton Ferrers every year and have eaten in the Dolphin in the past. It has been closed for a while so good to see it open again. Even better to eat here, very good food, a menu and a specials with unusual things such as pheasant and turbot (not often seen on pub menus). We ate here on 2 nights out of our 6 night stay. I can certainly recommend the mussels and the calves liver was good too. The steak pie and turbot was also good according to my husband. Good selection of beers on tap, equally lots of gins to try (including local ones). The mulled wine looked good too. Really liked the fact that there is a small fridge with bottles of water which has a sign saying help yourself. Good work guys keep it up and hopefully see you in 2020.
