I stayed at the Gite Forestier for one night during a solo bicycle trip from Perigueux to Pau and Dax last year. The location was very pretty and quiet, on a nicely landscaped hillside on the outskirts of a the village. I was greeted by the folks that run the place - a friendly and charming middle-aged couple who made me feel right at home, opened up a garage where I could leave my bike, and got me settled in quickly.
If you're coming by bike, there's not much nearby for eating options (by car it's much easier), but I was offered dinner with the family there for a small amount. A fun and good-humored (sympathique) time was had over dinner, which we had in the front gargen under the shade, and which was shared by the couple's son, who spoke perfect English and helped in a few translation difficulties with my imperfect French.
I would highly recommend this place for a pleasant, quiet, family-like stay in the countryside.
PS This review is a bit late, as I stayed at the Gite Forestier last year, but better late than never. :-)More
