Great Staff, Cozy place...as close to the water as you can get. Good breakfasts...get there early as the line gets long and local;s eat there too. Everyone was very friendly....We will be back for another vacation.

We stayed at the Back Bay Inn a few years ago, the gardens are even more beautiful now. The inn is a great stop while driving from Big Sur/Monterey to Santa Barbara. This time we went into San Luis Obispo, great little town for lunch. The Back Bay Inn now owns the adjoining coffee shop where we got our free breakfast there as guests of the inn. Quite a collection of locals were there.

Room Tip: First floor rooms have a walk out patito viewing the back bay, nice touch.

What a wonderful stay. Very peaceful and loved the room with front and rear entrance. The rear entrance faces out onto the bay and each little porch area is covered with flora to provide a sense of privacy. Love the little Back Bay Cafe on the premises where you get a great breakfast as part of your stay. The gals running that show are very industrious and you can have your breakfast right there al fresco or bring it back to your room. If you have a need to stay in this area Back Bay should be something for you to consider. We would definitely stay here again if we were back in the area.

This is our 2nd time to the Back Bay Inn and it was as good as the first time. We would sit on the balcony from our 2nd floor room and just watch the tide come and go. It was as peaceful and relaxing as it could be. The room is a good size. The carpet is starting to show wear and the bathroom is decent. The grounds itself has a calming feeling. The staff was helpful in recommending places to eat. If you want to get away from it all and just chill this is the place to do it.

hubby and I decided to take a break with a few days down the coast.The views here were amazing,right on the water! boats :) yaaay! The landscaping and walking path lovely, the breakfasts were incredible. The rooms were "roomy"(we got a studio), quaint little patio, french doors :) Those were the good parts;
The bad: Lumpy mattress, very uncomfortable for my back;walls were dirty and needed a fresh coat of paint, the white wood furniture in the living area was not cleaned at all, the bathroom floor had definitely not been cleaned.The cheap carpet/rug(?) was stained in various places;tiny frig was gross & looked as if it haadnt been cleaned or wiped down in months....and froze our drinks and food.Everything smelled very musty; we had to go out and buy room deodorizer 1st day! Maybe we got the last room??IDk, I booked online,room lloked great online. it wasnt full when we got there, however the 2nd day it was booked. I did not sleep in the sheets or even under the blankets,the duvet cover was stained.I would go back here IF , and only if,they cleaned the place up and made it alittle more sanitary. Maybe just OUR room wasnt cleaned properly(?) because I see wonderful reviews here, that is why we booked it.

This is a nice, quiet hotel, located away from the busy tourist areas. It is located right on the back of Morro Bay. Views from the room, and from the front porch, include the water, small boats, and shorebirds. The complimentary breakfast is a free pass to a delicious breakfast at the cafe located in the same parking lot. You know that it is good, when most of their customers are locals. There also is a Mexican restaurant conveniently located on the grounds. We enjoyed our stay, and we will definitely return.

Room Tip: ask for a downstairs room that faces the bay

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay in Los Osos. The Back Bay Inn was perfect for lounging around or accessing the Montana de Oro State Park- a must see! The breakfast was provided at the cafe across the way and was very yummy. We also enjoyed the afternoon wine and snacks. Will definitely be back to this b & b for more r & r.
