We came here specifically to see the bug exhibit - large semi-automated bugs - awesome. Also enjoyed the permanent hands-on exhibits. Best view of any kids museum; you can see all of Berkeley and San Francisco.

During our recent visit, 1/2 to 3/4 of LHS was closed due to changing exhibits. We were not made aware of the closures and paid the full admission, plus parking. Because of the closures, the remaining exhibits/activities were crowded for space and inundated with visitors. When we complained, staff would not offer a discount. Very disappointing! Call ahead prior to visiting to be sure the museum is fully operational.

Adults might also learn a thing or three here. The exhibits are hands on and engaging. I would suggest that most of the exhibits are for kids 5-10/11. There are things for little ones to do, but they will not understand the principles behind the exhibit. There are themed exhibits: dinosaurs, the sea, etc. There is also a gift shop. The site where the Hall sits commands a stunning view of the Bay and surroundings.

The drive up and down to visit the Lawrence Hall of science was quite scenic and went you get up there, take a deep breath, because the view is just gorgeous. You can see all three bridges, the Bay Bridge, the Richmond-San Rafael bridge and the Golden Gate bridge. Of course all the communities around it.

We are members of Cabot Space and Science Center, so we got a half off the prices for the entrance. The exhibits are all hands on, so my daughter had a blast learning about nature, physics, optics and mathematics.

Even the cafeteria had a lovely view of the bay.

Great museum for children and families. As other reviewers have noted, this is a fully "hands-on" museum and a great learning experience for kids. My boys love it and we go there at least twice a year when we visit Grandma and Grandpa up in the Bay Area. The view from the patio area, which looks west into the SF Bay, is beautiful and great for taking photos. Plan for at least two to three hours to see all the exhibits. I might also recommend a membership if you're in the area as it'll get you discounts at other museums.

NOTE: They have a small cafeteria providing standard lunch-type fair. Nothing special about the food although the view is really nice.
