I stayed here for a weekend while in town for a wedding. The location is great as you are right next to a Bart stop and walking distance from a number of restaurants and bars in the area. It's also fairly close to campus. The hotel itself was really well kept, the room was nice and comfortable. Our room was tucked away so we didn't have a problem with hallway noise. The front desk staff was extremely helpful as well. The bar and restaurant in the lobby are very inviting and great for a happy hour or light dinner. I would stay here again when I'm in the area because you can't beat the proximity to the Bart.

We visited Berkeley for a family function in May and stayed here after looking into other options. We are glad we did. The rooms have recently been upgraded and modernized, the location couldn't be more centrally located, and right off the lobby there is an excellent bar and restaurant.

It didn't apply to us, but if you are visiting Berkeley and want to be near the university, you couldn't be any closer.

We would stay here again without hesitation.

I stayed here one night with my daughter, who's a student at UC Berkeley. This iconic gem boasts a glamorous décor from floor to ceiling. We requested a quiet room away from the elevator but the paper thin walls didn't allow me the most restful sleep, as we could hear doors closing and the ice being extracted from the machine down the hallway. In order to turn the lights & heating/ac unit on, you must place your key in a slot inside the room. It's very energy efficient in that sense. Lovely and very clean. The staff is very attentive to your needs.
The parking garage directly across the street from the entrance was very convenient and less than $20.00 for the evening. The hotel is close to all the fine restaurants that Berkeley offers.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from ice machine, street and on an upper floor.

My husband and I stayed here on a whim with the date night package, it was well worth the price. the people who were working were very friendly, room was super clean and the breakfast in bed was delicious! something we are looking forward to doing again. parking may be a hassle, but we went out to dinner and came back after the street parking was free,my husband set his alarm got up real quick and put in 2 more hours, I think we paid $2 in parking total. well worth to set the alarm.

Room Tip: I don't think you can go wrong with any room. but if you want a higher level just ask.

If your purpose of being in Berkeley is at all related to Cal Berkeley the Hotel Shattuck Plaza is the perfect place to be close to the campus. We were in town for a home football game, so we could park our car in the public parking garage across the street from the hotel and leave it there until we were ready to leave. We had a standard king bed room - basic small room - the bed was comfortable and the room was clean and adequate. It wasn't the kind of room that you'd just relax it, but it served its purpose. Getting to the room was a bit strange - sort of like walking through a maze at an amusement park. The room was tucked way back in the corner of the 3rd floor (which made it very quiet) - but getting there from the elevator required a series of turns (sometimes through short hallways, sometimes through longer hallways) that was interesting. Our stay was fine - just not exceptional.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the elevator to avoid the maze of hallways.
