“Excellent food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014

The food was pricey...but if you don't mind spending a bit more for quality and fresh ingredients, then you will not be disappointed. The interior/decor is not 5-star...but the food and attentive service are the keys here.

“Perfect Lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2014 via mobile

Not my first time but i thought this was better than ever. Had the Halibut Tiradito to start - thinly sliced halibut bathed in citrus sauce with a very light spice. Amazing. Then the Rock Shrimp Creamy/Spicy - always a favorite. The place is pretty low key given this was Nobu's first restaurant. The food is always fresh and creative and the people are ultra-friendly.

“Some of the best quality sushi - in the world ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2014 via mobile

I love sushi, in fact anything Japanese. I love the different ways of cutting fish, serving it as sashimi or nigiri or maki or .....
They certainly have a huge variety of very fresh produce, cut to order and presented beautifully. Also a variety of sake to choose from. Service was quick and attentive. Considering how all the tables are packed together they didn't mix up any orders. A good evening out.

“Our best meal in L.A. - no doubt about it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2014

On a recent 4 day trip to L.A., we had 4 great dinners at restaurants by Wolfgang Puck, Mario Batali, Thomas Keller, and Nobu Matsuhisa. Our dinner at Matsuhisa was clearly the best of the four.

At Matsuhisa, the food is clearly the star, but the staff were extremely helpful. While my daughter loves sushi, I do not. My daughter had the best sushi of her life, while I had great oysters, king crab, the best California roll possible, and some wonderful tempura. Most of my selections were suggest by the staff - and they were superb. The staff gave us great suggestions, and also told us to stay away from certain things. Their suggestions were not price motivated, and they were dead accurate. Fantastic Sapporo on draft, too.

Fun place. We were there on a Tuesday night, and the place was packed. Everyone was in a good mood. A couple of guys from Def Leppard were in the house, and we met some some really nice & outgoing locals. At Matsuhisa, it seems that everyone is in a good mood. And quite honestly, the prices were not ridiculous. If you're looking for budget sushi, there are many places to go. If you're looking for the best, Matsuhisa is the place.

“Excellent Tasting Menus”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2014

I've eaten here only twice, both times with Japanese guests, and the meals were superb. We ordered the tasting menus and the dishes were extremely creative, beautiful to look at, fresh and tasty. Let them prepare the dishes they think are good and you won't be disappointed.
