“Classic and comfort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

Whenever we travel to Los Angeles there are certain places we always visit, but no matter where we go, we always stay at the Beverly Hilton. The quality, service and comfort are par excellence. The hotel has the feel and look of elegance without being garish or overwhelming. The staff are genuinely kind and helpful-eager to assist. The rooms are well equipped and the linens and beds beyond compare in comfort and cleanliness. If you are staying in a cabana room by the pool, an exceptional room by the way, you will have direct access to the pool. The substantial pool and surrounding deck area is completely secluded from the outside with lovely cabanas and lounge chair aplenty, as well as lush tropical foliage to give a soothing and comfortable setting. There is poolside bar service. For many years awards ceremonies, events, movies and tv for the stars are hosted or filmed at this luxurious hotel so that speaks volumes to the longevity of the unparalleled quality of this hotel.

Room Tip: Cabana rooms are the best but may be difficult to reserve unless well in advance.

This was our second stay (approx two years apart) at the same hotel. It's location is fine for Beverly Hills/Hollywood. The staff are very professional and all are helpful. The check in and check out work smoothly. The rooms are bright and airy. Go for ones with the small balconies and district views. The bathrooms are a touch small but adequate. The showers probably need updating as the water pressure isn't that great but the amenities are fine. Perhaps a coffee machine in the rooms wouldn't break the bank Hilton??? And how about free wifi in the bedrooms - c'mon its 2014! You don't need to charge every last dollar for everything - hide it in the room rates if you must but all I can say is that you irritate your guests by charging for wifi when more and more alternative options are not doing this.
The pool area is great with a fabulous large pool - if you arrive anytime after about 4 pm there will be less loungers in the "sunny spots" due to the shadow of the building starting to interfere with the lounging area.
While we were visiting pres. Obama decided to come visit/stay at the hotel. I am sure this is a great honour for the hotel but it was a major inconvenience for the guests and an even bigger one for the local area with roads shut etc. big tip - find out before you stay whether any important dignitaries are due to visit the hotel as it will clamp your style to a degree. The hotel staff are obviously used to this and do their best to sort things out but having to go through airport type security each time you want to go upstairs eventually wears out ones enthusiasm for a chance at a glimpse of the great man.

Room Tip: Away from lift and service area. Try get a room not facing the main hotel entrance

Visiting family and wanted to have a 'resort' experience on the city. The hotel provided excellent service and very comfortable room. The breakfast buffet had everything and was a great way to start the day. Happy hour in the lounge was good with good drinks and service.

The best part of the hotel was the proximity to great restaurants nearby in Beverly Hills. Easy walk to excellent restaurants.

Will be back next time in LA.

We LOVED this hotel. So clean, so many great services. GREATLY appreciated the car service, especially when they would go outside the normal range of service in order to accommodate our group. Valet seems expensive but every time you get in your car, they have bottles of water waiting. They even brought our car up the next morning based on the time we asked for it the morning before, and every morning thereafter it was waiting on us--top down, waters ready for all five of us. We were a group of women there celebrating my 40th birthday. We were all beyond thrilled with every aspect of our stay. We worked out in the fabulous gym most mornings (where water, apples and headsets are all on-hand for you, for free), would then grab a coffee in the lobby bar (so friendly!), then walked down around Rodeo Drive every morning to get breakfast. Beautiful walk into town, but the hotel is also adjacent to a great park with jogging paths. Fabulous locale. Just LOVED this hotel and everything about it. (Oh, ask for a cabana room!)

On check-in there was a delightful fruit basket and welcome note in my room. It was a first class experience.

After deleting this hotel from my regular list 20 or so years I was impressed with the refurbishment. Even without much of a view, the room was excellent with good amenities and a really comfortable bed.

A snack in the restaurant by the pool was just as good. My roast beef sandwich was superb and two visits both offered consistent service a good food.

My flight from LAX to Australia was leaving at 11:30pm, (and being a regular Australian visitor to the US I’m aware of the flight times and used to paying for the night before and a late check-out,) so I requested a paid late check out or extra night. First I checked the Hilton HHonors site and established that I could get a room for the night for $230.00. I asked the receptionist if I should book the night online or if she could arrange the extension at the same price.

She offered to take care of it, charged my card, and told me to call by reception to re-activate my key for the extra night. Everything was going well.

I called at the desk next morning and was told that I had a late checkout but not an extra night. Frankly I don't know what the difference is but I made it clear that I had a limo pick up at 9:00pm. It took more than five-minute wait to talk with a duty manager to get my keys even though the charge had apparently already been made to my credit card.

In other words, a simple service issue changed my experience from excellent to disappointing. Add an extra charge for the Internet and now I remember why I stopped using this hotel.

The Beverly Hills Hilton is a time piece and worth the stay just to swim in the pool with the huge movie screen or gawk at the photographs of movie stars in the lobby. It's a luxury hotel, so the rooms are great, but customer service for business purposes is just OK (not really geared to business travel). Some parts of the hotel seem warn, but, overall, that adds to the charm. Fun (and not so fun) facts about this hotel: JFK and Marilyn Monroe, Nixon's last press conference, Heidi Fleiss sting operation, John Edwards and Rielle Hunter, and tragically, Whitney Houston. They do a big academy awards party so you will recognize it from red carpet photos.

While this Hilton is an Icon...it needs to be brought up to standards of the Clientele they serve. The rooms are nicely updated and comfortable, but there are little subtleties that make the hotel outdated and old in appearance. Banquet food is not their strong suit, but attending to your needs by Bell Desk and Valet - excellent
