“Still the Grande Dame of Beverly Hills”

It is a good few years since we stayed here and pleasing to note that the hotel has enjoyed a makeover. The public rooms are gleaming and the bedroom areas have been refurbished.

Sadly Trader Vics restaurant has gone and we missed that on our recent visit. Admittedly a small selection of TV specialities is available but it is not the same. Bring back the TV restaurant we say.

Circa 55 serves a hearty breakfast with hot items changing daily. The staff there (especially Rosa) are fabulous as are those around the pool.

We enjoyed wall to wall sunshine during our 2 week stay and the constant supply of fresh pool towels, bottled water and shades was most welcome.

Sadly the bar service is not quite up to scratch and most evenings we waited for a long time before being served a glass of wine. The drinks were however of good quality and not too pricey for a hotel of this standard.

All in all a real icon of a hotel and well situated for visiting Hollywood, Santa Monica, Rodeo drive and Universal Studios. I spent a morning enjoying the artwork and pictures of past events in the hotel. Very interesting indeed.

Room Tip: The cabana rooms around the pool are nice but seem to sell out quickly.

I was here on business for a few days. The room was great with a great view. The restaurant was private or public depending on your preference. I was able to do business privately but noticed many families enjoying the outdoor dining near the pool. Everything was at your fingertips and car service or a rental was easily dealt with. The hotel was a haven for stardom, that's not why I booked it but there were a lot of top names in and out all night. The bar area was great for late night drinks and business or a quiet glass of good wine late at night while quietly responding to hundreds of emails. This totally made a stressful business trip actually enjoyable. The staff was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to please. Shopping was close by as observed from my transport and had my wife been with me I may not have been able to get her back to NY.

We got a 6 night stay for $176 a night, which is extremely reasonable for this area. Yes, parking is expensive and yes, wifi is an extra cost but really if you're gonna complain about things you have the ability to know beforehand, then don't even bother. This hotel is beautiful. The rooms are great and the service is fantastic. The area is safe and it is so beautiful. It is amazing and I recommend it to everyone.

The Beverly Hilton is extremely posh. It is close to Rodeo Drive and other shopping. While you are there get a cupcake at Sprinkles and breakfast at Clementine. The only complaint I have is that there is no discount for parking for guests that are staying at the hotel $40 per day is too much.

I stayed at The Beverly Hilton for 5 nights in a standard room with a friend. Arrival and check-in was swift & easy, and our room was ready for us.
We were on the 5th floor, overlooking the pool. Room was a very good size, with 2 double beds, a good size balcony and a lovely bathroom. Standard amenities were iron/ironing board, hairdryer etc, but we did have to request tea/coffee making facilities, and had to call in-room dining when it needed replenishing. There is no free wifi in the room, which isn't very good for a hotel of this standard. However, there is free wifi in the lobby.
The pool area was nice and clean, with pool bar attendants who were happy to bring food, drink and find sunloungers. There were quite a few sunbeds all in regimental rows, with not much space between each, but it's fine for just an hour or so at the end of the day after sightseeing etc.
Concierge were very helpful, always pointing us in the right direction, and gave us some good restaurant choices.
We used the hotel car a few times to certain restaurants in the area, which was free of charge.
On our day of departure, we had to be out of our room by 12noon. As our departure from LAX wasn't until 10pm, the hotel offered us the option to keep our room for an extra $170, or use the spa for showers etc for $25. I opted to use the spa, and I'm so glad I did. It was a beautiful area with big rain showers, and all the amenities you would need...robes, slippers, hairbrush/combs. hairdryer and a range of toiletries.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool on higher floors have great views

HHonors member.

First off, the property lives up to the high standards its name implies. They've done a nice job with renovations, making sure it lives up to its name. Where the hotel really shines though, is the staff. If you're obviously not a celebrity or wearing a power suit, sometimes you expect the staff to maybe look down their noses at you... NOT at this property. Everyone was pleasant and very accommodating. Some names are Will the waiter, Jose the bartender in the lobby bar, David the waiter, Robert the bartender in the lobby bar and Frank the bellman. I do want to emphasize while I did not get all of their names the entire valet and bell staff were always smiling, upbeat, and very helpful.

It's not cheap to stay there, but I feel it is worth it and would definitely stay again.

We spent a week in this hotel and I can truly say that this has been one of the best hotels that I have stayed in! I noticed that all the staff were extremely nice, however some of the staff, the cleaning personnel in particular, were not as nice and welcoming as the staff in the hotel that I stayed in New York.
The outside pool area is very nice, especially at night, when they "light up" the tables - the marble decorations are setting an amazing atmosphere, whilst enjoying a cocktail by the pool. Please note that the pool is 10ft deep and the staff that circulate the pool area could make anything up for you - smoothies, shakes, cocktails - you name it!
This is also a hot spot for celebrities - do some research first and see what is going on in the hotel during your stay. When we were there, the hotel hosted the Gracie awards and I managed to get a photos with some celebs. There was also something being filmed there (on a different day) for the Globe awards and I was able to see Lisa Kudrow and Sarah Jessica Parker was there too. With a bit of luck, you might be an extra to the show, as they had "fake" tourists there whilst filming - you would be a real tourist and naturally fit in. :)
Anyway, I heard that Obama stayed in this hotel when he was visiting a couple of weeks prior, so, if it is good enough for the President of USA, it is good enough for me!
The gym has a personal feel to it, as there are not that many people using it at any given time, however, please do not expect miracles from a hotel gym - it is better than the average, but if you are used to using particular equipment, you might not find it there.
Breakfast is really good, not that expensive, and includes a buffet option (and an omlette station)!!!
As a piece of advice, do not leave any boxes that you need by the door! We had an incident where, to make a long story short, I purchased an item in Vegas and folded its huge box that I carried back to LA, into smaller chunks in order to fit in my case. I left the pieces by the door, not too close, but also not in the way, on the inside and one of the room service staff had disposed of it.
I am grateful to Ryan (the Manager), who sent out a member of staff to go to another store in LA and get the same box, as it was part of an important present!
I wrote the above, in order to show you how friendly and willing to "go the extra mile" these people are!
The room itself was very comfortable and bed was even better! Our view was not one of the greatest, however, I could not complain, as I got to see all the very expensive Lamborghinis, Mustangs, Rolls Royces, etc make their way in the hotel! The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept on!
The bathroom was large, didn't have a TV, however it was more than sufficient for 2 people.
The hotel is walking distance to Rodeo drive, up Wilshire Blvd.
As a last point, for those who are interested, this is the hotel where Whitney Houston passed and if you want to, you can take a photo with the door of her room. At present, they are not letting anyone stay there or go in, for that matter.
Looking forward to coming back to LA and hopefully, staying there again!
