“A great experience in a classic hotel”
Reviewed 18 August 2010

I am so surprised to read the negative comments that have been posted about the hotel. I had a great experience during my 6 nights at the hotel and found the desk staff very helpful and charming. I loved the fact that there was a complimentary car to take people to places within a couple of miles, the room was impeccable, the service in the restaurant and bars was helpful but not 'in your face'. I'd definitely come back.

My husband and I spent one night at the Beverly Hilton this week. Valet came upto our car as soon as we arrived, removed our bags from the car and we very friendly. Nice lobby area, with lots of seating to relax in, a well as a nice Lobby Bar.Went right to the check in desk, where there was only one lady behind the desk. She was already dealing with another guest. We waited in line - with numerous other people behind us all waiting to check in. She kept on looking at all the people standing in line, and finally called for someone to come assist her. Our check in was smooth - though we got the impression the lady checking us in was on a go-slow. She definitely was in no rush to assist anyone! As Diamond members of Hilton, we received an upgrade to a junior suite. The room was very pleasant, with a very comfortable king side bed, a small walk in closet, nice sized balcony with a lounger, two chairs and a table. The room itself had a couch and a chair, as well as a desk. Flat screen TV near the bed. Nice bathroom, with individual toilet, shower and tub. Only con - one wash basin, though this was not much of an issue. We ordered room service, and whilst the attendant on the phone was very pleasant, as was the waiter delivering the food, the food itself left much to be desired. The meal was expensive, and add to that 19% service, as well as a 3.95 delivery charge plus tax, made it very pricey indeed! We only ate half our sandwiches and left the rest. That night we ate at Trader Vic restaurant. The servers were very busy and as such service wasn't the greatest. The food was pretty poor and I would not eat at this restaurant again. We had an early morning appointment so we checked out bright and early on the TV. As Diamond members, we were advised that we could consume two mini bottles of water from the fridge, and we would receive a USA Today newspaper. I was disappointed that there didn't appear to be an Honors lounge where we could have gotten a drink or used the internet. If there was one, this wasn't mentioned to us, and with my husband feeling a little under the weather, I never asked about it. It would be interesting to see if they have that facility. The location of this hotel is great, right on Wilshire Blvd, just a few blocks from Rodeo Drive and all the shops and restaurants of Beverly Hills. I would return to this hotel, but as Starwood Platinum guests as well, may try the SLS next trip.

I stayed here one night with my GF on part of Our California tour on June 2010.

Pros:
+ Location is good, only walking distance from the Rodeo Drive.
+ Room, L’Occitane products on bathroom and lovely bed.
+ Easy access to self-parking.
+ Get upgraded properly with my Diamond card
+ Drinks at the Traders Vic were great. Still dreaming about that chocolate Martini.

Cons:
- Why on earth there is no body wash on the bathroom? Only soap?
- No-one told us that our complimentary breakfast didn’t include hot food. It was just added to bill.
- Frontdesk asked that do We want to turndown. We said yes, but it never happened.
- Room quite was small.
- Self-parking is expensive.

Maybe could try again if visiting at the neighborhood.

We had a group of two 16 year old girls and four woman. We stayed 3 nights in the Oasis Tower and everything was great. We really enjoyed to pool after dinner. The kids sweam and the adults lounged by the pool and on the weekends they have a DJ. The rooms were very clean and the beds were amazing, the most comfortable I have ever slept on. We ate a few times at Ronies Restuarant just down the street. It is a small place with great resaonably priced food. We also walked to Sprinkles cupcakes a few times. The location was great and we cannot wait to return. Carlos the driver will drive you anywhere within a few miles and always with a smile!

After an 11 hour flight we arrived at the Beverly Hilton in the evening for a 4 night stop in LA. We checked into our room, which was situated in the lower level block to the left of the lobby. I was disappointed. The room was clean, but desperately needed modernising. The TV was not working and the air conditioning was really loud. We popped to the concierge who recommended The Cheesecake Factory for dinner ( near Rodeo Drive) and went out for dinner. Nice easy walking distance to Rodeo Drive.
That night I was woken up to a large water leak through our bathroom ceiling. At 3am I was stood at reception and the Night Manager was very helpful. We were immediately upgraded to a Junior Suite which was situated in the Wiltshire tower. What a difference in rooms. We also had breakfast on the house that morning, plus they paid for my swimming costume to be replaced as it was hanging in the bathroom just where the water leak occurred. For the four of us breakfast came to $100. The breakfast was great, but the only time we had breakfast as it was too expensive.
The swimming pool area was great, but only got time for one swim. In the evening you could watch movies on the large white wall in the swimming pool area, which looked great, but we didn't have time for.
The new room was great. The beds were so comfortable and the bathroom was modern and clean. Everything was perfect.
The car parking was very convenient and $29 per day.
I would definitely recommend, but only if staying in the Wiltshire tower.

If your looking for a little glitz and glamour, as well as comfort, in the heart of Beverly Hills at a reasonable price, then this hotel would be a first class choice. The standard double - double room was fine for our family of four for three days (about 300 sq ft) and there is plenty of cupboard space. The hotel itself has three wings of rooms all connected at ground floor level by a spacious reception area which includes a bar, a hotel shop, rest rooms, and entrances to the function rooms (where the Golden Globe ceremony amongst others, is held). On the lower ground floor you find Trader Vics and the large swimming pool area (one of the biggest in the area) which is one of the "In" places to see and be seen in Beverly Hills. High service levels everywhere and there is a buzz about the place where you really get the feeling that it is part of Hollywood folklore - and the photos and momentos all over the hotel do nothing to dispel that feeling.
Location is great, 10-15 minutes walk to Rodeo Drive and several great restaurants (but I recommend Trader Vics). Breakfast is great, but expensive at $30 per head, although there is a Starbucks just across the road.
Parking is expensive of course, at over $40 per day for the valet service and the self parking facility is not much cheaper. Also, they want to charge you for the internet, although it's free in the reception area where there is plenty of room to sit with your PC.
All in all, I recommend this hotel, particularly if you can get a good rate which includes parking or breakfast.

Stayed one nite due to location, close to everything. Paid over 400 for a 1 bedroom cabana room. Found out it's just a room, no extra space, outdated, no cabana, everything smells like smoke (threw pillows on the floor). Opened our "cabana sliding doors to find all chaise lounge's taken 3 feet from our room. Pool is not heated-our 7 year would not go in. Pool area is filled with hip type's & quiet.
On the plus side: service is top notch. Half price happy hour 5-7 is very good. Cool hotel if in the 200 -300 price range & went non-smoking.
