“Great lake view for a great price”
Reviewed 13 April 2013 via mobile

Came here for our honeymoon and will definitely come again.

Used a groupon and each night was around $75, almost the same price as the motel 6 down the street.

The rooms are very basic, no AC, old beds, gas appliances, but this adds to the rustic flavor of big bear.

Centrally located, everything important is not more than 3 miles away.

Television was great although in an awkward spot. The balcony is huge for a hotel and has an amazing view of the lake.

We couldn't make it all the way to big bear so we missed the first day, but the lady at the front desk didn't charge me for the first night, even though I booked it. now that is customer service!

Will stay at nothing but this lodge when I come to big bear. Strongly suggest.

Our room had a fantastic view, lake front with a balcony. The price was downright cheap for a lake front room. The room was tiny, no dresser ie, no drawers, rod for a closet and 5 hangers. It had a delightful gas fireplace with an electric starter and a great hot tub. The hot tub was close to the the bed. We had a coffee pot but had to go to the office for coffee, the maid didn't leave any in the room either day. We must have been a long way from the hot water tank because it took at least 4 minutes to get hot water in the bathroom and this a terrible waste of water. We had a small fridge and and flat screen TV, both worked well.
To sum it up, this place was cramped, but with nice ammenities.

Room Tip: Lake Front is the way to go.

Our husbands wanted to go snowboarding and with us girls being 6 months pregnant we have 3 must haves for the place we stayed at since we would be inside most of the day. We wanted a fireplace, full kitchen and wifi. This place offered all of these things and was a reasonable price, so we picked it. Once we arrived and got settled in we went to log into the wifi with the information given to us only to find out that there was no signal. If we walked out of the room and stood close to the main office it would pick up the signal but as soon as we got back to our room it would loose signal. So we called down to the front desk about the issue and they came to our room saying theirs worked just fine so they were unsure as to why it wouldn't work for us. We informed them that if we were near the office it would work but part of the reason we picked their place was because the girls that were 6 months pregnant wanted to use it while they were in all day, while the guys were gone snowboarding. The office lady's response to this solution was "well maybe have them go sit outside at the pool table near the office" we were all astonished at this response, its January so there is snow everywhere and its pretty darn cold to be sitting outside anytime you want to use the wifi you were promised access to in your room. We to the office lady that solution of hers just wouldn't work and she said she would speak to a manager and then get back to us. She and a manager never got back to us, we continued to complain but nothing ever came of it. So no wifi for our entire trip :( I have no idea what kind of other beds people who wrote the review had but ours were like being on a boat if the other person in bed with you moved than the whole bed shook. I have certainly slept in worse beds but I wouldnt say they were comfortable. The room was pretty clean aside from the pots and pans, they were all coated with a thick coat of grease. We had to wash all of them before use. Whoever used the room before us dripped something in the oven cause every time we used the oven it would smoke up and set our smoke detector off. It does have a full kitchen but is more set up for preparing frozen foods or quick simple things. We had to get creative having no bowls, very limited utensils (some even being plastic utensils that had been washed and put back in the drawer). Check out was even confusing...we went to check out at 8am and the office was closed but had a note with a number to call, we waited and continued to call for 20mins but never got an answer. No where in our room could we find anything with instructions on how to check out. Then we noticed a box on the wall near the office door. If you looked very closed there was a faded piece of paper that said room check out, so we dropped our key in the box and left hoping it worked. Overall the stay was good, just not completely what we were promised and the no wifi and way it was handled it was a huge disappointment. If you plan on spending little time in the room and not cooking every meal while you are there. The lady we had for room service was amazing and very helpful. Room 6 Stayed January 17-20 2013 While it wasnt a horrible experience we would not stay here again.

Room Tip: When the post says Gardenview it should actually say childrens play area view. Which was not a huge...

Team - we took a chance, and booked this via Expedia - from Australia. When we arrived, the place looked nice and cozy - when we entered the room - just what we needed, full kitchenette, nice view, friendly staff (my youngest pushing buttons he shouldn't have!). This is out second visit to Big Bear from Oz., love the place, loved the location (saved some $$ by buying at the supermarket and heating in the kitchenette), location worked a treat. No faults at all and with the savings from Expedia - amazing value for dollar - highly recommend

Room 1A was awesome. It's like a little studio with a kitchenette and fireplace. The only thing is that if your're a light sleeper try to get the top floors as you can hear them walking above.

Room 11 I stayed in the following weekend (I was a vendor at Oktoberfest), and was clean and cozy. Heater worked GREAT. The only thing on this one was the toilet would run every 10 min or so and so in order to sleep I had to shut the bathroom door as it was a little loud. Room was smaller on this one.

This hotel is right on the water though with some gorgeous views. You can also go out in the morning and feel the peacefulness of the lake before heading out. :-)

I highly recommend this place! :-)

After reading reviews we were skeptical about the place, but we booked and were very pleased. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had a lake view room, it was quiet and peaceful. My only complaint would be the water in the bathroom did got get very hot, it was luke warm. The fire place in the room was perfect. We would stay again!!
