“Great place to stay!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2011

I booked our room at the last minute, everything was full in town, I got lucky and this hotel was open, well with 3 rooms left. What a beautiful area, you can see the lake right outside your door. Great place to stay. The owner was the nicest person I have ever met as a hotel owner!! She gave out great information to us, told us about great resturants to eat at as well. The fireplace is electric, but it heated up our room in about 30 mintues, it was so warm we had to turn it down. There were enough blankets and pillows. The room is a little out dated but who cares, it was a huge room and it was "Very Clean"!
There is plenty of parking. I love that there are no "hidden fees", other hotel charge you parking and hotel fees when you check out, this place has "NONE"!
Great Breakfast, the first day we choose not to eat there because we checked in at 10:45, big mistake, we ate in town and it cost us way too much for what we got, we ate the free breakfast the next day at the resort, GREAT choice! There was fresh "real fruit", begals, cream cheese, donuts, toast, muffins, begal waffels with tons of fruit toppings, whip cream, syrup, there were great! 6 different kids of ceral, milk, juice, 8 different kinds of tea and coffee and "REAL" flavor creamers for your coffee! WELL WORTH eating there!
All in all, I would stay here everytime I go to Big Bear! Great place! The location is perfect, you can walk just about every where in town, that is if your willing to walk when it's cold. The Village is about a 5 min drive where all the shops are and the resturants, and the ski resort is about a 15 min drive if that! very close!
Great place!!

It was our first time in Big Bear and we lucked out with the Vintage Resort. Not only did we score a terrific deal with their buy one night get one free promo, we were so close to the Village. Very friendly and helpful staff, even the little Toy Fox Terrier, Harley, came out to greet us.

The room furnishings aren't the most modern, however everything is clean and in order. It's a very large space compared to most hotel rooms. The temperature was perfect, the fireplace was in working order and shower pressure was just fine. There are enough blankets/pillows and ample, soft towels. Free coffee and toiletries too. Wi-fi is supposedly available in the room, but mine did not connect (room 24). Ample parking just outside the door. The lake is accessible via a muddy bank. LOTS of cable channels. Pet friendly too!

The continental breakfast is fantastic. You can make your own Belgian waffles and top it off with whipped cream, butter and syrup. There are also bagels, English muffins, yogurt, a variety of cereals, fresh fruit, cream cheese, juice and coffee. The selection was enough to sustain us for our hike up Cougar Crest Trail.

We got a great deal on our room with the BOGO sale they had. Some friends traveling with us have 2 very large dogs and we were so happy that for just a few dollars extra the dogs could stay in their room with them.
This is not a cabin, but a hotel feel but our room was very large... enough to put our suitcases, bikes and our child's pack and play with plenty of room to move around with ease. It was very clean and had a book with many great ideas with things to do and places to see in Big Bear!
The only thing I didn't like was that the thermostat was connected to the fireplace so we really had to watch our 9month old and make sure he kept away from it. There was no normal heater. and the pillows were sorta flat, I'd bring my own next time. Though I'm sure If we asked they would give us more.
The Village is just a short walk, or bike ride from the hotel along with many restaurants.
There are chairs and a table out front of the rooms to sit and enjoy coffee in the mornings. The continental breakfast was great... waffles, cereal, yogurt , juice, coffee, etc... It saved us a trip out and a few dollars.
The hotel is right next to the lake and you can walk over but it's not somewhere to put up the chairs and towels, more to look and watch all the boats go by.
Overall great stay and would go again.
Oh and not far from octoberfest!

No doubt the place is clean, and the staff is friendly. But it's called Vintage Resort for a reason. The sofa, bed, sheets, and just about everything else is very dated. You can't sit comfortably on the sofa. It sinks in the middle. We didn't use it to sleep in, but it was hard to sit on. The resort is walking distance to the lake, but there is no real lake access. The grass is overgrown, and the water is dirty. You can set up your own chairs, but it's not very comfortable.

My sister and I were in Big Bear for the Amgen Tour of Calif. bicycle race stage which finished at Snow Summit. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and we were lucky enough to get a room closer to the lake and further from the hwy so very quiet. Breakfast was good. Only complaint would be with the shower. Water pressure was normal but water dribbled from showerhead. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. It's close to several restaurants.

We were 3 people in a room for 4 (2queen beds).
We went in Big Bear to ski and the location of the hotel is good. Very close to Snow Summit (5min in car) and to Bear Mountains.
The room was big enough for 3 and for one night. It was clean and we had everything we needed for the towels.

The definitively plus is the continental breakfast! It was included in the price and was very good! Waffles, cereals, bread...there are a lot of choice!

What could have been better: it was not so cold in the room but the blankets are too thin for this season! We had cold during the night.
There is no pressure in the shower, so it takes time to rinse!!!
The second point is the noise in the morning: all the room have view on the parking so when people walk and talk the morning it is noisy.

Without that, the hotel was good. We enjoyed our stay and could rest to ski the day after!
