We found the Timberline by accident online and booked cabin 10 at once. Upon arrival, the service was excellent and the cabin was comfortable. The owner and his wife are nothing short of great people pampering us and assisting with information to make our stay even more enjoyable. Without a doubt, we will definitely return to the Timberline Lodge again with the assurance our needs and comfort is in the best hands. I recommend staying here at least once for everyone.

My husband and I just had our 2nd wedding anniversary, and spent a couple of nights at the Timberline Lodge. We had a studio cabin, with a King Bed. We walked in and were very excited at how cute it was. Exactly what we were hoping for. Cute old wood cabin that was well kept and clean. Management were very helpful and friendly. Great location, near a village and a pub that brew their own beer! We slept well here. The heating was fantastic. Lots of channels on cable tv, and even could grab movies (video). A great relaxing stay, at a good price.

The best thing I can say about timberline is their user friendly website and their free VCR tapes. The cabin (14) was not as nice as we had hoped. The price was cheap and we knew why the moment we opened the front door. It wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I think the main problem was that the mgmt./owner did not make any effort to plow/shovel/scrape the driveway. It was very icy and difficult to walk, even to and from the car. I actually slipped and fell two times and had I injured myself more significantly, would have considered litigation. My wife was not impressed with the lack of a hairdryer in the room and the absence of any coffee filters. If you can't find any other accommodations, Timberline will suffice. I'd recommend you look elsewhere first, however.

Initially the staff was pleasant, and the atmosphere was nice. The lodge sits up from the highway and had a lovely lake view. We stayed in unit #4, which had ample space for our three children. The rooms are spacious, and bbq's are provided. However there is no A/C and the room was a bit stuffy for August.

I was pleased that the unit had a microwave and refrigerator as our kids had tired of restaurants and fast food from the week's travels. Upon check-in, I was a little unhappy to find the room looking a little run-down. The room had been hastily cleaned and much had been missed. The floor did not look to have been vacuumed and our kids quickly found a few water bottles, a lighter and some change under the bed from the last visitors.

A check in the bathroom revealed clean towels but as time went on we noticed several things that didn't please us. A towel rack was hanging off on one side, the shower's sliding door track was broken and (gross) there was a smear of what looked like dried blood under the light switch in the bathroom AFTER our kids had been in and out of the bathroom several times.

When we used the microwave which was sitting atop a small refrigerator, it quickly overheated and shut off. We we were left without means of heating the food we had purchased, and with the microwave sitting on top of the fridge, the fridge was now not cooling. Anything we had that was frozen defrosted. We had to go out and get fast food at almost 8 at night with tired cranky kids.

The pool was nice, although "heated" means different things to different people I guess. ;) The playground is a nice touch, but most parents would consider 90% of what's provided a hazard. There's no sand or cushion under the swings. The bikes and ride ons have duct tape covering holes and everything permanent (stone seats, climbing apparatus) needs a serious spackling and painting. There is chipped paint and broken toys everywhere.

On the last night, our children discovered that the lamp nearest the door had spliced wiring next to the wooden nightstand that was exposed. Thank goodness nobody touched it, 220volts and we had a two year old with us!

When we tried to find a staff member at several different occasions regarding these matters, they were unavailable. Nobody answered the door or the phone during the business hours listed on the flier in our room. We were highly displeased. The attendant we spoke to drove a vehicle advertising castle wood cottages, so we can only assume he was at a different location when we tried to contact him.

We would not stay here again, and we could not recommend this business to someone else without attention to the serious hazards both inside and out .

We're currently staying here and we've been here for about 4 nights. It's a great getaway spot at a great price. I've stayed at another lodge here for about the same price range and the difference is big. The cabins are a lot bigger here, even the cheaper ones.

The atmosphere is soooo relaxing. There is always shade here and there's a kids playground, basketball court, volleyball court, and a heated pool. What more could you ask for?

There are BBQ grills and wooden seats outside every cabin. The owners are very nice and made us feel welcome. They even let us borrow movies to watch in the cabin.

Great getaway for the whole family and couples. It's close to Boulder Bay, The Village, and all the restaurants on Big Bear Blvd.
