Stopped here last May on our way back from fishing at Lake Sabrina and it was the best burger I've ever had - and onion rings. Looking forward to another meal next month when we visit Bishop again! Don't miss this place!

This rating is for the terrific take out burger--not necessarily the ambiance! We were referred by friends to this little place, well off the main street. The burgers and shakes and fries (ordered by all of us) were terrific--the home made buns were outstanding. We ate at a picnic table on the premises but might take the food to the City Park next time; it's difficult to control young children in an area in close proximity to automobile traffic. You can't beat the burgers, though!

This place serves up large, tasty, sizzling-hot beef patties on wonderful homemade buns. Their culinary creations are everything I hope for when I'm in the mood for a great burger, and having eaten here several times, I've never been let down. Simply put, these are the best burgers anywhere along Highway 395 between L.A. and Reno.

Husband and I decided to eat at the famed Burger Barn our last night in Bishop. The Burger Barn is located in the middle of a small trailer park. Hint #1: Park on the street, not on what looks like parking turf at the BB. Hint #2: if you have small children in tow, make sure they stay clear of an unmarked "drive through" section that cuts a dubious swath between the take-out window and the, uh, trailers.

It took twenty minutes to get up to order window, largely because each order took at least five minutes to execute. When we got up to the window, the server asked us every single question very slowly, and it was one of those situations where, if you told her you had been standing in line for 20 minutes, you would have sealed your fate with even slower service.

When we got our food, we hightailed it back to the hotel; the sun had set and the one eating area at the BB, probably nice if you can get a seat, since it looks out on beautiful Bishop, was full. The food was okay, nothing great. We (and probably you) have had better hamburgers at the (defunct) Whiskey Creek; Denny’s, and a Mexican restaurant. Bottom line: Go to Holy Smoke Bar-B-Cue on Main Street, near the Bishop Park, for good food and good service.

I recently had the Burger Barn"s special of the day which was quiche. It was the best I have tasted..and I enjoy quiche. It held it's shape, but wasn't dry as they often are. Beyond that they have wonderful burgers and homemade ice cream. In fact, I stopped in one morning to see the owner in the process of making the ice cream and rolling out the dough for all the hamburger buns for that day. The only drawback is lack of indoor space in inclement weather, luckily Bishop is in the high desert! Very funky, Great food.
