“Bottleneck Cabin is Delightful!”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

This place is so cute and relaxing! No alarm clocks, no cell, nothing to do but enjoy the scenery and take in nature at it's best! Bottleneck is right along the creek, which made the cabin even more enjoyable. We hiked to the mine one day, and the resort pooch accompanied us most of the way. We usually stay in town, never again!
Great place in the High County!!

We returned to this lovely place again this year, taking Lamark with our son and his family taking Moonlight cabin. They say you can't go home again, but you really can, in this picturesque setting. Located between the cleft of two high Sierra peaks, this former gold mining camp is set amide a bubbling Bishop Creek and quaking aspens. Moonlight cabin has an accompanying meadow where we play croquet which we bring, and Lamark has a deck. There's horseback riding, homemade food in their little restaurant and hiking to the gold mine. We love fishing and can't brag about that this year, but we had fun and are booked in again next summer for a week. On the Fourth of July, we brought a potluck and went 20 minutes down the hill to Bishop with owners, the Cluff family, where we joined thousands on Bishop's airport tarmac for good food and a fabulous fireworks show sponsored by the fire department, all set against the backdrop of the great, White Mountains. Cooking utensils, dishes and bedding are provided, but remember that this is rustic. Check out cabins online and ask the Cluffs which cabin would best suit your needs.

This is truly one of those special places in the world that will become an absolute favorite. We arrived and found the Cluff family, Ken, ShaleAnn and their boys, offering a warm welcome! It is unusual in this day and age to find family run resorts of this class. We enjoyed lunch out on the deck, a walk by the creek, and then just a few minutes drive up the canyon to North Lake, where within minutes we were passing the John Muir Trail sign, enjoying some of the most spectacular views of the Eastern Sierras. Our cabin was absolutely tremendous, western paintings and articles on the wall, log post bed, kitchen, just a fantastic accommodation...hands down. If you are looking for a quiet, western resort, with light jazz playing in the background, awesome food, great hospitality, nestled at the base of the Eastern Sierras, you have to make this a stop on your list. We had just flown in from the Philippines, and friends invited us to stay here, telling us that it would be an experience we would not soon forget...that was an understatement. We will definitely be back and we are telling our friends to make sure and add this to their stops. It is about 20 minutes off the beaten path of Hwy 395, but best things are worth going a little out of the way for.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Hungry Packer Cabin, we asked and there are 11 cabins on the property.

e love Cardinal Village! It's like stepping back in time. Not too many places like that left in California.
Historic cabins left from the gold mining era. Horseback riding. Great hiking and fishing. Home cooked food. The general store decorated with everything from Brown trout to Mule deer, bob cats to mountain lions. It's a great place to take the family and friends.

Our family loves coming up to Cardinal Village every year. The Resort is peaceful and the staff very friendly. We love to get up early for fishing or a hike, then come back to the café for a great home-style cooked breakfast! We love hiking up to the old mine; and, when the kids were younger they were able to pan for gold as one of the activities arranged by the staff. The kids love the fact that the cabins we stay in are the ones that the miner's used. The fall colors are wonderful, the lakes beautiful, and when we return after a full day, we can enjoy a campfire by the stream, or the warm cozy fireplace in one of our favorite cabins. Cardinal Village is our home away from home!

An exceptional place to get away and relax! My family and I love to get away in the Sierras for relaxation and time in nature's beauty. Cardinal Village offers comfortable lodging, delicious home-style food (their old fashion milk shakes are delectable and reminiscent of the good ole days), a friendly and helpful staff (the owners, Ken and Shale Ann, are fabulous people and hosts--no exaggeration!!), and great fishing opportunities!! We frequent CVR!!

If you love getting away in the great outdoors, this is the place for you!

For families like ours that love the outdoors and getting away from city life, CVR is the perfect place! A stunning setting with its personable hosts and convenient amenities--we don't find it lacking in anything. Helpful fishing and hiking/backpacking information is available from the friendly workers in the General Store, and fantastic food in the cafe--gotta try the buckwheat pancakes! It is hands-down our family's favorite vacation spot!
