“The carne asada is really a well-seasoned beef steak”

When you order a carne asada at Rositas in Blythe, CA, you get a steak dinner with some rice and beans. The meat was thick and comes with a razor-sharp knife to cut through the thick meat. The spiced meat didn't need the salsa because of the house tastiness added before it was cooked. This is a big meal for a reasonable price.

Not terrible and not great, average Mexican food. Considering what your other choices are in Blythe, you can't go wrong here.

Food was really good. Got there late, just before closing but were just as friendly as if we got there early. Would definitely eat there again.

The food itself at Rositas was a four of five, but everything else was less good. The salsa that came with the chips was thin and uninteresting, the dining area was quite noisy, the food took way too long to arrive, and the server was just going through the motions. The prices (about $9-$12 for two or three item combo plates) was about par for similar sorts of places), and the menu was almost a stereotypic Tex-Mex, without one offering that might spark one's interest as something new or unusual to try. You can eat satisfactorily at Rositas for not too much, but that is true for a lot of other places in Blythe

When I checked the not very positive reviews of the range of restaurants in Blythe, one began "If you have to eat in Blythe," and another was entitled with a verbal shrug, "Meh." Those two capture Rosita's. Faced with the largely so-so reviews of the restaurant scene in Blythe, we decided to drive around and see what looked presentable and also seemed to have people eating. Rosita's matched both criteria, so we decided to try it. It was quite busy, a good sign, we thought-- incorrectly. We got one of the last available tables. The restaurant was very noisy, and the decor was uninspired (not good plastic table cloths, hard and somewhat uncomfortable chairs). The menu was disappointing. It had all the every-Mexican-restuarant-has-them items such as tacos, enchiladas, burritos, and little else. I ordered a chile relleno and machaca (spicy shredded beef) burrito. My wife had a taco, enchilada, and tamale combo. Both came with the ever-present refritos and rice, neither of which was particularly good. The service was perfunctory and slow. The server took our order soon enough, but it was 25 minutes before the meal came. When it did, there was no "sorry it took so long," merely, "who has the number 16 and number 22?" She never returned to check if we needed anything or refill our water. The preceding salsa was watery and the chips a touch greasy. The main food itself was good enough, but not exceptional. I thought that when it took so long for the food to come out that the kitchen must be slow, but when checking out I could see the pick-up counter, and the cooks had eight plates on it (getting cooler by the second) waiting for a server's attention. The bill, about $22 for us both, was inexpensive. Overall, I couldn't say "don't go to Rosita's," but then I can't think of a reason to go there either.
