Drake's Fireside Lounge is the more casual dining choice at the Bodega Bay Lodge. It features the same menu at the Duck Club, but the setting is more laid back, and reservations aren't necessary. We had dinner at Drake's on 2 nights and the service on both occassions was excellent. The cheese plates are definietly the way to begin the meal. There are many options on how you can put this plate together and the accoutrements are excellent. The gnocchi, duck, steak are all very well prepared. Save room for the chocolate cake. It is light and the frosting is not the heavy cloying masses so often found on restaurant dessert cakes. This cake is like a good homemade cake. There also is an ample wine list and it is possible to find a good bottle without breaking the bank. The lounge is comfortably decorated. There's a large fireplace and a bank of windows that look out toward the ocean.

Sitting at one of the many window seats you are basically at the edge of the Oceans dunes. Trees and brush whispering at you with the constant breeze of fresh air. The service and food are what you would want to share with your best friend or sole mate of new or many years as we did at 43 years together. From steak to seafood you can order the best and the way you like it. Deserts are a specialty here too plus you can go out on the deck in front of the massive fire pit and watch the sunset over a cup of fresh brewed coffee, cocktail or excellent selection of Ports.

great evening or lunch. They service an incredible breakfast too all in the same setting. The French Toast is "To Die For". I make my own with Gran Mariner but this one is even better

This was my favourite meal of our trip - not only because of the food but also the ambience of the restaurant. It was quite upmarket in design but captured the essence of the bay and local area. Great food choices and beautifully prepared and presented. The open fire in the bar and restaurant add so much to the atmosphere. This is a must if you are visiting Bodega Bay.

One of the few good upscale restaurants in Bodega Bay (hey, it's a fishing village, you expected Michelin four stars?).
Nice, comfortable atmosphere, good service and a nice diverse menu. Well prepared, attentive servers - a thoroughly enjoyable dinner at a reasonable price. Like everything else in Bodega Bay, you'd do best to order seafood, but not everyone in our party did - and everybody enjoyed.

(BTW, the oysters - which can be ordered individually - are bigger than you expect; a 1/2 dozen could be a meal).

Thank Jim M
