Great place to unwind, which we did after a 2 week roadtrip. The weather wasn't the best but that's not anyones fault. We stayed in the 1 bedroom apartment and it was perfect. I'd recommend it and would stay there again.

We spent two nights here recently, and it was wonderful (except for the fog and rain, not their fault, of course).

The view of the bay is wonderful, even in the fog. The 2-bedroom apartment is quite comfortable, and the kitchen is incredibly well equipped. The Tides (a little bit south) has a wonderful fish market (they don't say there's a market on their sign on Hiway 1), with very fresh fish and seafood. We ate in happily both nights.

There was everything we would have wanted (WiFi and Videos, in our case) and more (games for families). More kitchen gadgets than we could have imagined, even a super-hot water dispenser for coffee or tea. Dishwasher, of course.

As you can see from the photo, great views, even in the fog.

Typically I would not want to give away such a gem as this, but this is the kind of place you want to see stay in business! I was looking for a nice place to stay in Bodega Bay to celebrate a milestone birthday and just get in some R &R. I basically wanted something more than a hotel room. At the Bay's Edge far exceeded our expectations. The owner has thought of everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, from kitchen amenities, books, music, blankets, cooler and candles! We stayed in the one bedroom. Amazing views from every room, extremely quiet and comfortable. Wonderful deck to enjoy a glass of wine, or just hang out on the comfy sofa enjoying the views or watching a movie. The bathroom is small, but filled with light and the shower has great water pressure. If you are a dog lover, don't miss out on a visit with Molly, the Newfie. The owner, Mary Jane, is the perfect hostess. To sum it up, it is a perfect getaway on the water if you are looking for some quiet relaxation. We also viewed the two bedroom, which looks amazing as well...Be sure to have a meal at Terrapin Creek. You won't be disappointed. My biggest complaint: we couldn't stay longer.

My wife and I just returned from a stay AT THE BAY'S EDGE in Bodega Bay. It was a 2&1/2 hour drive from Sacramento.
This is a 2 room only inn. There is a 2 bedroom( $435 for 2 nights) and a 1 bedroom room( $410 for 2 nights). After looking at the online site we choose the 1 bedroom because it had more windows and better views.
The drive over on highway 1 was great-lots of open space and great views. When we got to Bodega Bay we found the driveway down from the road to the house. This house with the owner Mary Jane consists of her downstairs part of the house and the 1 and 2 bedroom units above her home. You do not enter her house..
Part of the house foundation is actually on piers so from the room you are over that bay. We could see the different boat harbors to the West and North. In the room you can hear the roar of the ocean from the other side of Bodega Head across the bay.
The room consisted of a combo living room-kitchen and about 20X30. Great views from all the glassed windows and doors.
The seperate bedroom had a queen bed and a large clothes closet. Heating is by electric heater or wood burning stove.
The kitchen is stocked extremely well with appliances and food items like coffee, tea, oil, vinegar, popcorn, etc. This was one of the best stocked kitchens we have encountered. This is not a fancy room but a homey room.
We spent a lot of time in the room because of the great views and good wild life viewing. We saw seals, 2 river otters, and a great many sea birds. The Cormorants roost at night in a tree next to the house. We also drove to Bodega Head to whale watch for a 1/2 hour and were lucky enought to see a Grey Whale.
There are great beaches to enjoy and if you drive several miles inland there many little towns to explore: Bodega, Occidental, Freestone and others.
Mary Jane, your host, was very nice and friendly. But she was not
someone who hoovered over her guests. She left us alone but was happy to answer our questions and give us suggestons for sight seeing and restaurants. And if you have to leave your dog at home Mary Jane has a Newfie named Molly who really likes to be petted.
This is a laid back type of vacation and we had a great time.
We have stayed in several of the big hotels in Bodega Bay and none of them were anywhere this close to the bay. We would watch the fishing boats go out and back into the harbor.
WE HAD A GREAT TIME!
PS-restaurant info: We did not like Lucas Wharf we really liked-- the Sandpiper. Spud Point Crab Company had the best clam chowder. Six dollars for a large bowl. We went 15 miles north and ate at Rivers End--High end restaurant with great food and an awsome wine selection.--Our anniversary dinner.
John

Stayed in the 1-bedroom for 2 nights. Beautiful view with small deck over the water. All amenities were available. Best part was the warm afternoon sun flooding the room for a cozy welcome nap. Watched a couple of movies and had some great dinners at wonderful restaurants nearby. Would love to come back.

We rented the 2 bedroom and our stay was not long enough. Mary Jane and Molly made our visit perfect. Everything was thought of when they put this rental together. From the moment you walk in the door, comfort greats you. The beds are fluffy and comfortable and the shower had a ton of pressure with a beautiful beach motive tile. The living room has great views stocked with plenty of books (some really funny ones!) and games to keep you busy when you are relaxing by the fire or viewing the sunset. The sound of the fog horn off in the distance lulled us to sleep one night and was somehow perfect for the vacation. We would definitely recommend this place and will be back!

We stayed here for a few nights during a 6 week trip down the california coast last year and it proved to be one of the best highlights of the whole trip.
Everything you could need is provided, the hospitality was wonderful and the location and views were excellent. We'll be back.
