“Fish and Chips, Yum”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

On the recommendation of the hotel, we went there for a late night (almost 8PM) fish and chips "informal" dinner, and although they were cleaning up, they happily fixed us up with a 4 piece cod and chips dinner big enough for both of us with a very fresh tasting tartar sauce for $10. That is a better price than anywhere around, and the place is cute although maybe a bit "diner-like" in decor for some. It's family run and they clearly take pride in the food, which is what matters. Fried food is always a big question mark, and if the frier is too low a temp, things get greasy fast. This was perfect and crispy with just enough battering to add flavor, but not bury the fish.

“Tasty and inexpensive seafood”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

We were searching for a place for lunch with seafood. Lo and behold across Hwy 1 we saw a line of people at the Boathouse so we knew there had to be a reason. I had fried oysters with fries, wife had crabcake sandwich, and others had fish and chips. Food was hot and piping fresh with tasty tartar sauce, catsup, and fries. They have a nice selection of beers. Selections were around $10 which isn't bad considering that other places in neighborhood may charge 20% more. Not much in way of service - you order at cash register and someone delivers food. But worth it - they also have a nice selection of microbrews.

“Great fish and chips!”
Reviewed 22 January 2012

If you are looking for good fish and chips reasonably priced this is the place to go. It is a little shack on Highway 1. Not the place if you are looking for ambiance or a romantic quiet dinner but you won't walk away hungry or feel like you just got skinned at a tourist trap. They have good chowder bowls and fabulous deep fried zucchini. The portions are large and can be shared. Bodega Bay is known for its overpriced tourist restaurants so this is a popular local restaurant.

“Excellent Fish & Chips”
Reviewed 3 January 2012

My first time to the place was good, and so was the second. We spent the weekend in Bodega Bay and while there searched for the best fish and chips. The Boat House was so good we dropped our quest after the second night. The place is unpretentious and the woman taking orders at the counter is very nice and inviting, like you are part of their family. There is no question that the clam chowder is awesome! The place is small and the parking is limited, but the good fish and chips made us quickly overlook the few minor inconveniences.
