The Springs at Borrego RV Resort and Golf Course
Reviewed 30 January 2013

I live in another part of the desert, but I hear a great deal about the various resorts. This one is tops because it is so very clean, friendly, and full of extras. I have joined Jacqueline's yoga classes at The Springs which are perfectly balanced (haha pun ;)--not too difficult for the majority of us middle agers, but also both a great workout and relaxation. In fact, there is a chalkboard and bulletin board by the pool that lists the many, many activities The Springs offers (most at no extra cost), giving guests the option to kick back or better themselves with sessions in everything from yoga to star gazing (Borrego is a designated "dark city" for optimal star viewing.) The Springs is just slightly away from the heart of the town--far enough for a true desert feeling, yet within a mile of some really nice restaurants, shops, and nature centers. When I went to the Farmers' Market on Friday morning I was surprised at how luscious the locally grown produce are, and how reasonable the prices were. If you're into nature treks and presentations, visit the Borrego Springs Nature Center for onging events. When it isn't blazing hot, I love bringing out of towners to walk the outdoor labyrinth behind the Episcopal church--even locals often don't know about it. If you're here for an extended visit and want a break from the desert, cool green hilly towns like Julian and Lake Cuyamaca are within an hour's drive. Lastly, check out the Performing Arts Center in Borrego for a variety of entertainment from light fare to highbrow: plays, poetry, ballet, music, and more. Opps, almost forgot to mention that an arts center is just about to open here and from the look of the sharply designed building, it seems really cutting edge. It's amazing how such a small, quiet town can offer so much. Thus if you want a great place to stay while here, I recommend The Springs highly.

Now I know why this place got 10, 10 , 10 rating! From the moment i called for reservations, on arrival and throughout the 4 day stay, we were very impressed and satisfied! We stayed in January during a cold weather streak! Boy did the mineral hot spring jacuzzis help our achey cold bones!! After breakfast and before bed we & another couple would soak for about 20 mins! Boy was it nice & relaxing! Individual private "heated" showers were so nice as well as roomy! On one Tuesday night it was "Camfire Night" they provided roasted hotdogs & Smores and we brought our wine/drinks! What a nice change not having to cook and getting to mingle with everyone! It was going to be outdoors but because of the cold we went into the rec room that had a fireplace! It may cost a little more than the usual RV resorts, but well worth it when you consider all the amenities and the caring, helpful staff that is there to make sure you enjoy your stay! They have the small town of Borrego about a mile and a half away (we walked there for the calorie burning exercise) and picked up some unique gifts at the stores there and treated ourselves to some deelish margaritas and appetizers at one of he Mexican restaurants(sorry forgot the name) They get a "10" from all of us and We WILL Be back!!! Oh yes, check out the metal sculptures scattered all around close by if you have a car-ask anyone of the staff, they'll tell you!! Happy trails!

The negative review I just read is grossly inaccurate. I have been coming to the Springs at Borrego for five years and spend 4 to 5 months each time. I would say that the majority of all guests have dogs or cats. Most are very well behaved. But like any other RV park, an occassional dog barks too loudly or too much. This happens, for the most part, when pets are left unattended, a violation of the stated rules. I appreciate the way management deals with excessive dog barking. The Springs at Borrego is very pet friendly to well behaved dogs and dog owners.

Contrary to their claims of being dog friendly this park routinely attaches pre printed "warnings" to RV doors of anyone whose dog has barked. The warnings state that you should read the park rules which state that barking dogs of any kind are not tolerated and that the park has the right to evict anyone for violation and to not return any of the prepaid fees.
No, I was not evicted or asked to leave. I just found the hypocracy too much to swallow and moved our rig to the Outdoor Resort in Palm Springs which is truly a dog friendly park.
I'm posting this to alert people to the fact that some parks are not what they claim.

Wow! What a great RV Resort! The Resort is in Borrego Springs, an artsy little town in the over 600,000 acre Anza Borrego State Park. The State Park is pretty bleak desert, but it features a multitude of 4 wheel drive excursions and a huge variety of hiking trails. It offered us lots of places to discover. And nothing was better, after a day spent exploring the desert, than to return home to soak in one of the RV Resort’s 2-person hot mineral springs jacuzzis. We even treated ourselves to a couple of massages—offered on site.

In juxtaposition to the bleakness of the surrounding desert, the Springs at Borrego is an oasis. The park is surrounded by an immaculate green golf course. Growing throughout the park are lemon and grapefruit trees (you can pick fruit from any tree on a site that’s not occupied); growing by the pool are fresh herbs available for guests to cut. We loved the free water aerobics, yoga, and pilates classes, and we took advantage of the free weekly wine tastings and hot dog cook outs. The Resort has a small observatory, and several times during our stay star-gazing parties were offered. Also during the 2 months we spent at the Springs at Borrego, we enjoyed 2 free concerts—one by folk singer who performed with the New Christie Minstrels and one by a great rock and roll band from Salton City.

Our experience at The Springs at Borrego RV Resort was very positive. We highly recommend the resort.

We have wintered at the Springs for the past 5 winters and as long as we are healthy we will continue to do so. No park compares, no town compares! If a serene setting, no trains, no freeway, a gorgeous surround of mountains and an equally gorgeous golf course appeal, this is the place to be. What you see on the website in photos is exactly what you see there. There is no cropping out, it is just a 360 of desert, green golf course oasis, birds, mountains and not a mall in sight. In the adorable town of Borrego Springs, a 4 minute drive, 10 minute cycle, there is a Friday morning Farmers Market with everything you could need for a gourmet meal. There is also a great food market, an outdoor outfitters shop, family run restaurants that will not break the bank for Mexican to Italian and The Crazy Coyote for all in between, to name some of the amenities in town. The Palms at Indianhead is a must brunch spot, bring your dog to the patio, enjoy excellent california fare with a view of their Olympic pool with the endless desert/mountain vista beyond the pool. A ladies wear shop in town, Ocotillo Boutique, that has two of the best buyers anywhere in California. If you miss having big box stores, the trip to La Quinta is just an hour and a half, but trust me, you will not stay there a moment more than necessary, we all get back to Borrego in the fastest time possible and begin deep breathing when it is in sight. So much to do in Borrego or not do, no better place to relax or be active. Our desert paradise! And the resident massage therapist, Anna, see her for sure!

This is the third visit (out of many over the past years) to The Springs at Borrego which confirms my growing suspicions that the park is out growing its popularity. Again we were not happy with our week long stay-the spa area was over crowded, bathrooms dirty, among other things. Wi-Fi unpredictable and the staff not very friendly. Even neighbors in the park had similar experiences. Some left to rent at other spaces where the rates are much lower. Most likely we will not return. Too bad because we really liked the place when it was smaller and much more intimate. When you could enjoy the spa or workout room without being over run by other guests.
