“Cheap Clean Motel”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

We stayed here on a Friday night on our way to San Diego. We had stayed three nights in Palm Springs and had intended staying a fourth, but as hotel prices increased significantly in PS for the weekends, we decided to move to Borrego Springs.
This hotel was the cheapest with the best reviews in the area.
The room is basically breeze blocks which have been whitewashed, but it was really clean and comfortable with coffee making facilities. Kenny showed us to our room and explained all the sculptures around Borrego so after settling in, we took a drive round town to explore.
Would definitely stay here again.

My wife & I came to Borrego Springs to hike & explore explore the area. We spent a very comfortable night at the Borrego Springs Motel. The owners really take an interest in having the guests enjoy their stay & they couldn't have been nicer. The motel is very well maintained, spotlessly clean & with very comfortable beds. Well located to walk everywhere in town. Very quiet. Highly recommended.

Last time we were here we rented two connected rooms + another room for our children and other family members. This time it was just me and my wife for a long weekend. We loved the place then and now… and the folks who run it Ken and Bonnie. Friendly over the phone and by email when booking (prompt responses) and friendly in person. The place has just the basics, but it's a good thing… no phone, no internet, no TV… and why would you need those things when you come out here to relax and enjoy the quiet of the desert, the beautiful mountains that surround it, the sunsets, and the stars at night. Step into the dark night and watch the sky, forget TV and Facebook! A clean, friendly place, all powered by a solar system up on the roof, walking distance to the center of Borrego Springs, stores, restaurants…right off Christmas Circle… will be back!

Room Tip: all rooms are quiet and face in the same direction… all have queen size beds except for one with two...

This is an old style motel that has been updated. Clean and nicely appointed rooms. No wi-fi, TV, or phones and that's a good thing. Sitting in the sun in the morning enjoying a cup of coffee can't be beat. Sitting in the sun in the evening enjoying a beverage and snack is delightful. Everything is clean. We were there in early Jan. and the weather was perfect. The owners make you feel like old friends coming for a visit. The rates are surprisingly reasonable. A great place to stay while enjoying Borrego Springs and the surrounding state park, both of which should not be missed.

Kenny O, Owner at Borrego Springs Motel, responded to this review, 18 January 2014
Our niche in Borrego Springs is to provide low-cost quiet clean accommodation to couples. Our queen bed rooms are at seventy five a night; we have one twin beds room for eighty five per night. TripAdvisor has repeatedly put us in the price range of over one hundred per night which is not true.

Six of us stayed here for some relaxation in the desert. Kenny and Bonny are very welcoming hosts, they made us feel right at home. We enjoyed having a campfire each night and gazing at the multitude of stars. The location is quiet, yet an easy stroll to town. The rooms are spotless and the beds are comfy. We will be back.

I have never felt the need to review a place at which I have stayed, but this time it's different. I was so positively surprised that I want to share my impressions with you. After a long day of driving it was a real pleasure to stay at the Borrego Springs Motel. The rooms are neat and clean- more so than the more expensive hotels at which I have stayed on the same trip. The rooms are equipped with everything you would want, and even offer a mini microwave, a coffee selection and most notably a wonderful bed with a very comfortable memory foam mattress. The owners Bonni and Kenny are super nice. And so is their dog “Duchess”. Kenni greeted me when I pulled into the parking area, and showed me around the room and gave me excellent tips on what to do and see around Borrego Springs, complete with restaurant recommendations. I have had a wonderful stay in Borrego and after touring most of Southern California (I reside in London, UK and was hungry for some sunshine and peace and quiet) I am very glad to have stayed in Borrego Springs. It very much is a special place to visit, and the Borrego Springs Motel is great place to stay.

We love the Anza Borrego desert and have been coming here for almost 20 years. Borrego Springs is a small town and we were never happy with our accommodations, until now. I loved our room with twin beds with memory foam mattresses. I also liked all of Bonni and Kenny's personal touches--the wrought iron night tables (Kenny later explained that they'd enlisted school children to paint them), table and chairs in the room and outside the door, all amenities provided in the small space. Very well thought out and "green". You can open the windows and let the cross breeze in. Helpful and friendly hosts. We wish them success! Even though we're nature lovers, we're wired, and I was worried how we'd manage without the internet and TV. You can walk to town from this motel. We went to Carlee's to watch the hockey game on TV and eat. We found some places with free wireless to use the next morning. Perfect!
