Nice forestry venue off Highway 9 in the Santa Cruz mountains
It takes quite a drive to get there
Short course with narrow fairways and sloped greens
Beautiful surroundings
Target golf
Friendly staff

Recently stayed in Unit 2-4 (which is unit 2 of section 4). Most of the units are owned by individuals, with several owned by the Golf Club itself. This particular unit is an end unit right next to the 18th hole, and it has clearly been updated in both kitchen and bath areas. Reserving the weekend package special is a great deal, and puts you just ten minutes away from the Big Basin park office. I ended up doing the Berry Creek Falls 10 mile loop trail and had an amazing time in the Boulder Creek area.

I also played golf using the $29 early bird special (18 holes on a weekday when teeing off before 8:30am, which includes golf cart). A quick drive into Boulder Creek provides a variety of shops and restaurants and I can highly recommend a stop at New Leaf Community Market which seems to be a small version of a Whole Foods type store. Excellent stay all around, would highly recommend this unit if looking to hike in Big Basin which is a fabulous State Park.

Room Tip: I can recommend unit 2-4 at the 18th hole, which is booked via the Golf Club but is privately owned.

This place was great. My husband and I live in the Bay Area and this is a perfect, affordable weekend getaway location for us. We usually take advantage of the stay and play golf package. This is an extremely affordable package which includes two night’s accommodations, three rounds of golf, per person, use of swimming pool and tennis courts, and meal and drink tickets in their clubhouse.

The condo units wind through most of the back nine of the golf course. The units themselves are older, probably built in the 1960-70’s. The unit we stayed in probably had the same appliances from the time the unit was built. It was like walking back into my childhood. The fridge, stove/oven and dishwasher were the beautiful harvest gold, popular during that time. All worked very well! The bathroom looked as if it had been recently updated. The unit had separate dining/living (with a wood burning fireplace) and bedroom areas. It was quite spacious and clean. It also had a patio that opened to the 10th green. We spent our mornings drinking our coffee on the patio, watching the early golfers.

The golf course is pretty wooded and therefore, there are areas where they have a hard time maintaining the grass. It is executive length, but somewhat challenging as the fairways can be narrow/lined with trees/water hazards, etc.

All of the staff members (hotel, restaurant and golf) are friendly and professional. Check-in was painless, and we were there very early.

We will return many times.

What a pleasant surprise after a harrowing road trip up from Los Angeles! The condo was great, very roomy and comfortable. The staff was even better, made us feel right at home and were very cordial. A nicely stocked kitchen as far as appliances go and never a shortage of hot water for long relaxing showers. Will defintely stay again, although will take highway 101 instead of highway 1 next time!!

In looking for a place to stay that was a two bedroom with a sitting area, your choices are limited. However we stumbled onto this place even though we don't golf, it was what we were looking for. They are condos/villas with fireplaces, kitchens, dining room and living room areas. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything with the exception of the food. The decor is cabin like and a little dated, however that wasn't why we went, it was quiet, beautiful and relaxing. We brought most of our food so we didn't eat at the resturant. We did go on a hike at the Big Basin State Park, about 20 minutes away. Then had dinner in Santa Cruz about 30 minutes away. Boulder Creek is a smaller town and not much to it, but you are close to anything you need or want to do.

When making the reservations they were very helpful and accommodating, it wasn't like a big hotel, more personal knowing who we were throughout our trip.

Would definitely stay there again.

After 4 days of chaos and cold in San Francisco, Boulder Creek could not have come at a better time..

We booked this accommodation after finding the golf club on the internet, although neither myself or my partner play. We chose it because it looked like a good place to base ourselves for a couple of days, at a reasonable price. Boulder Creek is close to Santa Cruz and right in the middle of the redwood forests of Henry Cowell and Big Basin state parks, which have to be seen to be believed.

The accommodation is in privately owned chalets, which are all fully furnished and provide everything you may need for a comfortable stay. There is a restaurant and bar on site, although if you are looking for a good breakfast you should go to nearby Felton to a place called La Bruschetta, as they provided the most fabulous omelette I have ever had, with plenty on the side to keep you going till evening.

Our chalet had a private deck with a view of the 11th tee and the duck pond, which was lovely. The cleanliness of the chalet was acceptable and the bed was so comfortable that I managed to get back to sleep during the 1st night after being woken by an earth tremor measuring 3.6!! This was a weird experience and something that the Californians live with all the time.

Also worth a visit in the area is the Roaring Camp Railroad. We managed to book tickets in the UK over the internet for a moonlight train ride and BBQ, which was definately a highlight of our holiday. The food provided was better than i expected and the train ride through the redwood forests in the moonlight is not to be missed, very magical.

If nightlife and partying is your thing, then maybe this would not be the place for you, but if you enjoy walking, golf, nature and tranquility you should consider a stay in Boulder Creek.
