Very interesting place to visit with children for a morning outing from Cape Town. Child friendliness of the venue is great.

We visited Butterfly World for the first time and enjoyed it so much. We had the chance to take wonderful pictures to share with friends and family,

Not a huge location, but your family could spend a lot of time exploring, eating and learning. My children have been visiting since they were toddlers and are now nearly teenagers. We went yesterday and they enjoyed it again. It's nice that the owners have changed the layout a little and have added to the animals/bugs. It's well maintained and still affordable. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an indoor/outdoor venue so that your visit is not weather dependant. It's location is ideal if you are wanting to keep driving after your visit into either Stellenbosch, Paarl or Franschoek for wine-tasting, other animal interactive venues or better lunch/dinner options.

It's a series of wooden aviaries with interlocking gates , some extremely hot , you move from aviary to aviary , with a selection of butterflies all sizes , small mammals , lizards , some snakes , insects etc . In gardens outside the aviary you find a very large selection of tortoise , turtles etc .
It had a home made feeling , mum & pop , family owned etc , it's around 40 mins from central Cape Town on the motorway , look out for the small signs , very easy to miss .
