Horseshoe and Castle

We were also attending a wedding reception at Cooling Barn Castle who actually recommended the Horseshoe and are grateful that we booked an overnight stay there. We were given one of the rooms in the annex behind the pub as we did not want to disturb anyone coming back. It was a lovely, comfortable modern room. We walked back from the venue as we had left our car there (thank goodness being told when I booked to put comfy shoes in the boot)! Compared to some of our friends who had to wait 20-30 minutes for a cab to take them back to their respective hotels, we definitely got the better deal as the walk back along the quite quiet road was refreshing. As we arrived later than expected due to hubby finishing work late, we could not sample the menu or bar but our hosts were very welcoming nonetheless. However, we did sample the breakfast this morning and it was of an excellent standard and very welcome after a good night before! Would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone attending the castle.

Perfect accommodation whilst at a Wedding at Cooling Barn. Host was very helpful and welcoming. Rooms were clean and tidy. Warm and cosy. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection. On the downside no hairdryer and some very squeaky doors!

We booked an over night stay at the Horseshoe and Castle because we were attending a wedding at Cooling barn .We met my brother and his wife in the bar and enjoyed some really good local ale,we then chose to eat in the resturant there was a wide choice on the menu and i went for the ribeye steak and it was excellent as were all the other meals my wife and co had ordered..The rooms were very good and clean and the bed was better than my one at home we had a great nights sleep. We had the full english in the morning with loads of toast and coffee and fruit juice nothing was to much trouble ,Kevin and his staff were very freindly and we were made to feel very welcome.Kevin even posted me back a coat that i had left behind after my stay.If you want comfort great food and people and a taste of home this is the place for you .Once again thank you for a very pleasant stay. Tim ,Mary,Simon and Stef Wilson.

We booked an overnight stay as we were invited to a wedding at nearby Cooling Barn.We popped
in to register at lunchtime and met our absolutely charming host and had a delicious snack there
before changing for the wedding. The room was clean and bright wih an ensuite and tv.and we had a very comfortable night. Our breakfast in the morning was as good if not better than we have
ever been served up.We met the whole family at some stage who were delightful and helpful .
A quick tip for anyone wanting a great weekend away.If you have a heart and a soul and are
interested in British history, combine a visit to nearby Chatham Naval dockyard museum,[put aside
a whole day for this since you will need it] while staying at the Horseshoe and Castle and you will thank me for writing this first ever review.
