Relaxing and delightful stay in the Santa Ynez wine area. Resort feel, quiet and well appointed rooms with professional & genuinely friendly staff. Kudos to Daisy (front desk) & Martha (restaurant), Stayed here and found it central to exploring the entire region!

If you need to take a break for a few days you may want to consider this hotel. Excellent quality and value. The buffet breakfast was fantastic, I recommend the omelets but leave room for the fruit bar and pancakes............ need I say more.
The Hotel has a rack of bikes which you can rent for an hour, half day or all day. The swimming pool is one of the largest I have seen in a hotel, the hot tub is a normal size 5 - 6 people. There are also tennis courts (covered) so bring your racket.
In the evening you can sit outside by the fire and enjoy a drink and more.

The theme is horse racing, not sure if there are any tracks near by.

Room Tip: If flying in try to get the early flight out of LAX into Santa Maria and drive down, gives you more...

My husband and I are locals and we stayed here at the Marriott to partake in their New Years Eve package (which we've stayed here before for several NYE events in the past). What peace of mind we have being able to not worry about drinking & driving and enjoy ringing in the New Year with friends and then just walk up to our room while enjoying a first rate Hotel! We were joined by several of our friends that stayed at the hotel and NYE festivities as well. We had a wonderful stay in one of their beautiful suites with balcony & oh so comfy pillow top beds. The NYE dinner at their Starting Gate Restaurant (Prime Rib & Chicken Cordon Bleu buffet) was delicious...thanks to the wonderful Chef & staff!

We also attended the NYE party in the Marriott ballroom where the band "the Molly Ringwold Project" was performing for the evening. They were a FUN 80's band and their music brought back alot of old memories which we had fun dancing to. The only gripe we had about the evening was that the BAR at the party was not properly staffed to handle & accomodate the crowds of people waiting to purchase their drinks. Some had to wait 30-45 mins for a drink! But half-way through the evening they did get more staff & open up the other side of the bar as well as add some beer/wine side-bars in the corner of the ballroom to help relieve some of the crowding. Also in the beginning their wasn't enough tables for seating, but they also added a few more tables/chairs to help accomodate more guests.

Check-in/out was made easy by all the front desk associates who were very friendly & accomodating. As always, the Hotel was beautifully decorated and festive for the Holidays!

Overall we highly recommend the Santa Ynez Marriott if you're ever needing a top rate, friendly, hospitable & comfy place to stay in the Santa Ynez/Solvang/Buellton area!!!

I didn't really have a conception of just how far Buellton was from Santa Barbara, and when I found this hotel with great reviews on TripAdvisor, I decided to go for it. Because I waited 'til the last minute, we had to spring for a suite (w/2 queen beds) for me, my brother, & our elderly parents. Although SB was about 40 miles away, it was an easy & scenic trip down 101. Not only is the hotel right off the 101; it's also at the intersection of the 101 and 246, which will take you to Solvang.

The suite was very spacious. The separate living room had a couch, an easy chair, and a table big enough for three of us to sit comfortably and enjoy a dinner we'd packed for the first night. There were two entrances to the very spacious bathroom: one from the living area and one from the bedroom. And there was also a separate sink (where the coffee maker was) between the bedroom and bathroom so somebody could brush their teeth etc. while the bathroom was being used.

The beds were fairly firm, the pillows apparently down and smooshy, and it was great that they were queen sized and not doubles.

Many reviewers complained that the hotel needed updating and was next to the 101 and was therefore loud. But I found the interior of the hotel to look pretty contemporary. Most importantly, everything seemed pretty clean. And we didn't hear a peep of 101 traffic at all. And the hotel was decked out to the nines in rather cheesy Christmas decor. Not my style, but it did make things festive, which I enjoyed.

I was surprised at how large the hotel was (didn't realize it served as a convention center, too). The fitness center was perfectly adequate (3 treadmills, 1 bike, 2 ellipticals, some basic weight machines, a full set of dumbbells, balance balls of different sizes, plenty of towels, a water cooler, and a dry sauna), and although I didn't make time to enjoy it, the fire pit outside looked inviting for the chilly Central Coast nights.

The hotel staff were largely very friendly and competent. We did have quite a bit of trouble getting onto the wifi network the first night we were there, but that was resolved the next day. I did find it strange that we were always given 2 pillow mints, 3 bath towels, and that there were three chairs at the table. If a suite has a capacity of 4 people, housekeeping should provide accordingly. Other than those minor things, we all really enjoyed our stay. And that's saying something, as we're a picky lot!!

Stayed a few days to go wine tasting in the area. My dad is older so I asked to stay on the 1st floor, which we did. Pretty central to everything. The layout was a little confusing. Went to eat in their restaurant, was too lazy to go out. A bit over priced for what we got. Went to their bar for happy hour. I guess they aren't open any other time prior to that. Didn't have easily available information for restaurants that were close by and open. We drove around and mostly found fast food. Not convenient if you smoke. Had 1 'ashtray' out by the side of the pool (no chairs or table). You just stood out there (like you were loitering). Went out a bit late the next day, when we got back the room was still not clean and we were tired so we just put the do not disturb sign and ended up not having our room cleaned or made up. Didn't think the hotel was so busy that they couldn't clean the room prior to 5pm. I would probably stay there again and just request my room to be cleaned in a timely manner.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 1st floor have no enclosed patio or balcony. You can walk through the sliding door out...

A wonderful stay in a luxury property; entering each room you step under an arch that really adds character. Great made-to-order omelets; very friendly staff. Only complaint: front-facing rooms face freeway so opening your balcony sliding door results in noise and smoking smell if others are lighting up in the front courtyard. But no smoking in the rooms, patios or balconies.

The Santa Ynez Valley Marriott is ideally located for your stay in Santa Barbara Wine Country at the intersection of the 101 and State Highway 246. The hotel is located sort of caddy-corner to the Days Inn - Windmill Inn, where Miles and Jack stayed in the movie Sideways, but with the amenities one would expect from a full service Marriott resort hotel. The hotel has nice meeting facilities as well, a very good dining restaurant, and is decorated in an attractive western ranch style decor. Nearby Danish town Solvang is very much worth spending a bit of time in. Nearby Los Olivos is a small early 20th century victorian California town with many excellent tasting rooms. While driving around wine country, the California Highway Partol is visible on occassion. These officers are friendly and helpful if you see one. Beware of the California Sherriffs used by the town of Solvang as its local police. In Solvang, crosswalks are poorly marked with faded white lines; and, no crosswalk signs exist to alert drivers as to the location of the crosswalks. If a pedestrian extends their foot an inch beyond the sidewalk into such a crosswalk on the opposite side of the road, Sheriffs may nab you for a $250 ticket. Even if you had no way of seeing the pedestriansdue to oncoming traffic. This is an unfortunate fee grab on the part of the town of Solvang. This is the only real negative I have encountereed in Santa Barbara County wine country, which I have visited a number of times.

Room Tip: Two side of the Hotel. One looks out to the pool, but also you get a little bit of noise from the 1...
