“Always a Nice Stay”
Reviewed 17 March 2014

We stay here whenever we are in the area, and always enjoy our room. This time we were celebrating our 10th anniversary, and they surprised us with a bottle of wine and some very yummy chocolate cake, with a nice handwritten note from the staff. As you pass the staff or maid service in the halls, they always greet you and are very pleasant! We feel it is a good value to stay here, and our bed was very comfortable.

We had a corporate event at the Santa Ynez Marriott in Buellton. The central location of this hotel makes it an ideal jumping off point for traveling anywhere in the region. The planning for our event was very smooth and everyone checked into their rooms without any issues. Everyone had a great time. The rooms are lovely and even though the hotel is situated near the 101 Freeway, noise was not a problem. Everything you could need is available at the hotel; nice lobby, snack bar, lounge and restaurant downstairs. My husband and I sat for a while near the fire-pit space in the back of the hotel in the evening before retiring. I would recommend this hotel without any reservation. (no pun intended) and would stay there again.

The wife and I had a overnighter here on a getaway weekend up the central coast. After a nice day of golf at Avila Beach, we drove down 101 to rest here before heading home to Long Beach. Have to say this place surprised us with all it had to offer.....nice pool/jaquzi, there was a game room with pool tables and arcade games, a nice lounge offering happy hour specials, tennis, raquetball courts, and a great restaurant too. We enjoyed a couple of drinks in the lounge before walking down to the Firestone brewery restaurant for dinner which was great. Then we walked over to Micky D's to split a fudge sundea to top the day off. A great nights sleep was followed by the gym, then a nice buffet breakfast at the restaurant (included) which was excellent. The hotel was full....we could hear some voices through the walls in our room, but overall we were pleased with our stay.....do wish they'd get some sand for their shuffleboard table in the lounge. With so much to do around this area it's a great place for a couple of days.

If you need to take a break for a few days you may want to consider this hotel. Excellent quality and value. The buffet breakfast was fantastic, I recommend the omelets but leave room for the fruit bar and pancakes............ need I say more.
The Hotel has a rack of bikes which you can rent for an hour, half day or all day. The swimming pool is one of the largest I have seen in a hotel, the hot tub is a normal size 5 - 6 people. There are also tennis courts (covered) so bring your racket.
In the evening you can sit outside by the fire and enjoy a drink and more.

The theme is horse racing, not sure if there are any tracks near by.

Room Tip: If flying in try to get the early flight out of LAX into Santa Maria and drive down, gives you more...

My husband and I are locals and we stayed here at the Marriott to partake in their New Years Eve package (which we've stayed here before for several NYE events in the past). What peace of mind we have being able to not worry about drinking & driving and enjoy ringing in the New Year with friends and then just walk up to our room while enjoying a first rate Hotel! We were joined by several of our friends that stayed at the hotel and NYE festivities as well. We had a wonderful stay in one of their beautiful suites with balcony & oh so comfy pillow top beds. The NYE dinner at their Starting Gate Restaurant (Prime Rib & Chicken Cordon Bleu buffet) was delicious...thanks to the wonderful Chef & staff!

We also attended the NYE party in the Marriott ballroom where the band "the Molly Ringwold Project" was performing for the evening. They were a FUN 80's band and their music brought back alot of old memories which we had fun dancing to. The only gripe we had about the evening was that the BAR at the party was not properly staffed to handle & accomodate the crowds of people waiting to purchase their drinks. Some had to wait 30-45 mins for a drink! But half-way through the evening they did get more staff & open up the other side of the bar as well as add some beer/wine side-bars in the corner of the ballroom to help relieve some of the crowding. Also in the beginning their wasn't enough tables for seating, but they also added a few more tables/chairs to help accomodate more guests.

Check-in/out was made easy by all the front desk associates who were very friendly & accomodating. As always, the Hotel was beautifully decorated and festive for the Holidays!

Overall we highly recommend the Santa Ynez Marriott if you're ever needing a top rate, friendly, hospitable & comfy place to stay in the Santa Ynez/Solvang/Buellton area!!!

I didn't really have a conception of just how far Buellton was from Santa Barbara, and when I found this hotel with great reviews on TripAdvisor, I decided to go for it. Because I waited 'til the last minute, we had to spring for a suite (w/2 queen beds) for me, my brother, & our elderly parents. Although SB was about 40 miles away, it was an easy & scenic trip down 101. Not only is the hotel right off the 101; it's also at the intersection of the 101 and 246, which will take you to Solvang.

The suite was very spacious. The separate living room had a couch, an easy chair, and a table big enough for three of us to sit comfortably and enjoy a dinner we'd packed for the first night. There were two entrances to the very spacious bathroom: one from the living area and one from the bedroom. And there was also a separate sink (where the coffee maker was) between the bedroom and bathroom so somebody could brush their teeth etc. while the bathroom was being used.

The beds were fairly firm, the pillows apparently down and smooshy, and it was great that they were queen sized and not doubles.

Many reviewers complained that the hotel needed updating and was next to the 101 and was therefore loud. But I found the interior of the hotel to look pretty contemporary. Most importantly, everything seemed pretty clean. And we didn't hear a peep of 101 traffic at all. And the hotel was decked out to the nines in rather cheesy Christmas decor. Not my style, but it did make things festive, which I enjoyed.

I was surprised at how large the hotel was (didn't realize it served as a convention center, too). The fitness center was perfectly adequate (3 treadmills, 1 bike, 2 ellipticals, some basic weight machines, a full set of dumbbells, balance balls of different sizes, plenty of towels, a water cooler, and a dry sauna), and although I didn't make time to enjoy it, the fire pit outside looked inviting for the chilly Central Coast nights.

The hotel staff were largely very friendly and competent. We did have quite a bit of trouble getting onto the wifi network the first night we were there, but that was resolved the next day. I did find it strange that we were always given 2 pillow mints, 3 bath towels, and that there were three chairs at the table. If a suite has a capacity of 4 people, housekeeping should provide accordingly. Other than those minor things, we all really enjoyed our stay. And that's saying something, as we're a picky lot!!
