It was a good place to rest your head, but it definitely needs some upgrading. The lobby was nice, and the staff very friendly. The rooms were clean, but needed a face lift.

I stayed with my fiancee here for a 10 night holiday to see L.A and go to some theme parks. Knotts Berry Farm was the best theme park I went to, and empty in the weekdays so really advise that. You get cheap tickets too with a stay at this hotel.

The hotel was great, very clean, spacious rooms and good facilities with attentive, helpful staff. There's even an ice machine on every floor!

The pool was great, clean and tidy, the toy is good fun and there is a really hot jacuzzi which is open with the pool till 11pm.

There were also guest laundry facilities quite handy, a mini arcade, a cash machine (ATM) and gift shop.

Contrary to Tripadvisor's status above these reviews, the wifi is not free, its $10 a day but cheaper if you buy longer plans. Wifi is excellent though, rock solid and I was getting approx 2.5Mb/s down and 700Kb/s up.

The adjoining restaurant/bar Amber Waves was OK, the breakfast was $13.99 and all you can eat from scrambled eggs, bacon, french toast, muffins, cereals and coffee/orange juice. The bar there isn't so good, the guy when I was there behind the bar was a bit rude towards me. I'd also advise taking a bottle opener with you, the bar bloke wanted something ridiculous like $5 per bottle "corkage fee". What a joke. Alternatively the gift shop sells a bottle opener for about $2.

Top tip for travellers from LAX, Look into prices of Taxis as well as buses and dont assume buses to be cheaper! an immediately booked over the phone big people carrier taking us and loads of luggage one way to LAX was $80 which was far better value than a bus.

I used Grey Line buses when I was there to see the city, Universal, Disney etc and it was alright but not overly cheap, just less hassle than a car. Caution though, dont rely on them to get you back to the airport on time....

Overall:

Rooms - clean
Pool - clean, spacious
Staff - helpful and polite
Knotts Berry Farm - amazing thrill rides, something for everyone
Wifi - excellent speed and reliability

I booked the 2 rooms through Priceline. At $40.00 per night, I got what I paid for. When I won the bid I thought, wow - what a great deal! And then I checked out Trip Advisor, and saw the mixed reviews. So I thought well, it it wasn't going to be the best experience and certainly not the worst. It turned out to be "so-so, blah."

The 2 rooms were basically the same in condition and size.

It was not a resort hotel as named. It was more like an older Holiday Inn that was due for a remodel.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Amber Waves restaurant was OK.

I knew that parking ($10/day) and internet access ($10/day) was an add-on, but at the end of a 3 night stay, a $60.00 charge was still a little hard to take. Several other “2 ½ - 3 star” properties we checked out during our stay offered free parking and a few offered free Internet service.

Room itself was comfortable but it really showed its age. At least 6 small but noticeable stains were on the carpet. Air conditioning system was second-rate at best. It was an outside wall mounted unit (like in motels) that was noisy and drafty. It was difficult to sleep.

The bathrooms were really small. Not counting the tub, the bathrooms were about 63” by 54”! A small vanity outside the bathroom was 40” wide just enough for my toilet kit and coffee maker.

If you need to be right at the park, stay here but don't expect a "resort experience." . If not look for another place to stay.

After 29 years in the U.S. Air Force (and a lot of amusement parks with 3 kids around the world), my wife and I took our 17 and 20 year old girls to Knotts in July for part of a retirement vacation. We stayed in the over sized room at the Knotts Hotel and it was superb. First, the staff at the front desk were the friendliest I've ever met and helpful. Second, the rooms were quite nice and well worth the few extra dollars in cost. After spending all morning and early afternoon in the park, we picked up some of their good chicken and took it back to the room (3-5 minute walk) and also had a nice afternoon nap. We then went back into the park until they closed and stayed in the hotel another night. Perfect! Also, they have a wide variety of rides and the lines were quite short, even in July! Good value? Absolutely. Highly recommend staying at the hotel as well. We will again.

Everything about the rooms were dirty from the minute you walk into the room; room stinks, stains on floor, hair still on the bathroom floor, bathtub dirty that didn't drain, stains on furniture, etc. Only thing good was the service. Will never stay here again!

My boyfriend and I stayed, for the Knott's Scary Farm, and we had an overall great experience. The rooms were spacious very clean, and comfy. The only think I didn't really like was the $10 for parking. Shouldn't that be included? Overall I would definitely stay here again!!!
