“Burney Falls Area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2013

My two daughters and I travelled to Burney Falls for the weekend and stayed in the town of Burney. The motel was clean and service good. The staff who took our reservation was extremely friendly and helpful when determining what size room would be best. We ended up with the family suite (Room #33) and it worked very well for three females even though it only had one bathroom. The only negative to the room was the fact that there is only one air-conditioning unit which is in the living area. There are ceiling fans in all rooms. The king bedroom and the living area were fine - but the room with the double bed & twin bed was very warm at night, even with the ceiling fan on. The bathroom was well stocked with a hair dryer, soap and shampoo, and seemed to be recently renovated. The towels also seemed new and still "fluffy." The proximity of the hotel to Burney-McCarthur State Park is great, which was the reason for our visit. We had dinner both Friday and Saturday night at Art's Outpost across the street from the hotel. The food was great, which is why we went back the second night!

After a day visiting Lassen National Park, we wanted a hotel close by so that we didn't have to drive to our next destination in Oregon. The price was right ($89) and we got a super big corner room on the second floor. Clean, comfortable with a friendly staff. There was a surprisingly good Chinese restaurant next door that had takeout. It was too hot to go anywhere back to our room.
A couple odd things about this property: no vending machines or any kind of breakfast. I, at least need a fresh brewed cup of coffee and a muffin, to get going in the morning. The room coffee makers generally are never any good.

We got the family suite room 33 - spacious enough for my family (there being 2x adults, 1x child and 1x baby). There was only 1x air conditioning unit located in the living room, which made a slight problem at night. Even though every room had a ceiling fan, the children's room remained blazing hot at about 85 or so degrees. This made it a burden for our kids to sleep in their room. At the very least, the main office provided us with an additional fan for the remainder of our stay in the motel. The Tub in the bathroom had remnants of other people's hair along the drain, but other than that, we have no complaints! For the price of the rooms, the service was excellent and our stay was well worth every penny.

Thanks for your good review. Sorry about the air conditioning, I am going to put small air conditioning units in each bedroom for to make sure our guest are comfortable. That is one our biggest rooms with a full kitchen, and deck in the back. We have 4 other suites as well, we hope you try us again next time.

NASTY NASTY NASTY DIRTY PLACE !!!!!!! We stayed at this hotel approximately one year ago and had an AWFUL experience. I gave it a bad review then and was contacted by manager. We were told that conditions had been corrected, extensive remodeling was being done and housekeeping procedures were being changed. We were also told a free stay at another property in Shasta area was being sent to us (never happened...should have been first clue).

We were travelling in the same area again on a whim type trip and had made no reservations on a holiday weekend. It was very very late, we were tired and decided to take a leap of faith decision to stay at this hotel again based on what the manager had told us and the desk clerk at the time of check-inThere had been some remodeling done but the same nasty worn bedspreads and hole filled curtains were still present. The room did have a nice almond/coconut smell to it tho' but unfortunately, I found out why in the middle of the night !!!!!!! The blanket I had folded down at foot of bed was an oily filthy mess of what was probably suntan oil or worse...massage oil..I had someone's used oils all over me !!!!! When I jumped out of bed, my leg was cut on the metal bedframe that was sticking out over 3" from mattress !!! We checked the bed and found it tettering off the frame !!! and found holes in the sheets at the foot of the bed !!!!!!!

I went to take a much needed shower to find rough stained towels to use,,,and then bumped against the metal bed frame again on other shin !!!!

That morning, we went to have what was suppose to be a continental breakfast..nooooo. Nothing. The desk clerk told us that because the owner was selling the place, "We don't serve it anymore". We told her of our room experience and she barely looked up from here magazine.

Sleeping in your car would be better and probably healthier than sleeping at this dump !

Room Tip: This place is a dump and there are no good rooms !!!!!

I regret your experience back in May was so miserable. And excuse the tardy response. Since you stayed over a month ago, were registered under what I am presuming is your husband's name, and didn't say what room number, we had to do a bit of digging. It was helpful to see your complaint from 2011 to confirm who you were as well. I responded then that you could “call or email me....” if you wanted to stay for free at our property in Mt. Shasta. Our policy is to move guests that are not satisfied with their room. May I suggest asking to speak to a supervisor/manager when you are not happy with the quality of a room; most establishments strive to meet guest's expectations.
Housekeeping and maintenance looked into the recently renovated room you stayed in. We confirmed the bed had indeed shifted off its base and corrected it. I regret that you where injured in anyway by a wayward box spring. The soft goods in our rooms are of appropriate quality for our operations and are well maintained. The continental breakfast was stopped so we can focus our resources on room improvements like the one you where in. I apologize for the inconvenience of not having the continental breakfast you where expecting. Green Gables 20 (picture of which is featured on Trip Advisor), a very popular room with a separate tiled area for fridge, microwave, coffee pot, counter and sink. We find all criticisms & short-comings helpful and a chance to improve. Thanks for your comments.

We (eight of us) were on an extended road trip and we had reservations at Green Gables Motel. As we pulled into town, two of our cars broke down. We had to extend another night and then arrange for VERY late checkouts. The staff was friendly & kind and very flexible with our difficult circumstances.

The rooms were interesting as every single room was uniquely laid out and appointed. They were clean. The typical customers that we saw were people that were either working in the area or driving in for the fishing.

Room Tip: Rooms near the road are quieter.

This motel offers a nice, clean room at a reasonable price in a very beautiful area. Burney is a cute town with some good restaurants. The Green Gables offers a nice sized room with a large bathroom and a Jacuzzi tub. The TV offers a nice selection. The motel was quiet and easy to get in and out of. The beds were comfortable and the motel offers a frig and microwave. A good bargain.

We stayed at the Green Gables on a layover on a road trip from Lake Tahoe. We were greeted very pleasantly and checked in efficiently. We stayed in a two bedroom suite-style room that was more like a small apartment. The one thing that is most important for us when staying in independent motels of this nature is cleanliness and we found our room(s) at the Green Gables to be immaculately clean... much cleaner than the fancy condo we rented in Tahoe. The court yard of the Gables is shaded and pleasant. Location is great - we took in MacArthur Burney Falls and then hung out at Lake Britton... just down the road. We would definitely stay here again on our way through Northern California.
